“Six assignments every day is too much” — Concerned mum calls out Lagos schools over heavy homework load

A frustrated mother has cried out to the Lagos State Government over what she described as the increasing and overwhelming amount of homework being given to pupils, especially in Lekki.

In a video making the rounds online, the mum lamented that children are now being given as many as six assignments daily, leaving them exhausted and overstimulated.

She argued that the children are becoming overwhelmed and no longer genuinely learning but merely going through the motions.

“These children are overstimulated. They are acting like zombies,” she added, calling on authorities to urgently review the workload being placed on pupils.

Greetings to Nigerians at home and abroad.

For years, I’ve spoken up for people and stood against injustice, not because I’m perfect but because I care. I never planned to go into partisan politics but the call from the people has been persistent and sincere.

That said, for a long time, respected leaders, elders, and ordinary citizens alike have approached me, urging that I take on a greater responsibility by contesting for public office. Initially, I had no interest in partisan politics. However, the call persisted.

Sometime last year, before taking any step, I sought the face of God, and I received clarity and peace to move forward, hence my declaration to join the governorship race.

My intention is clear and transparent:
I do not have money for vote-buying.
I do not control federal or state power.
I have no political machinery to intimidate opponents. I have no thugs to sn**ch ballot boxes. I do not control INEC, nor can I manipulate results. But I have the support of men and women of goodwill like you.

To our people abroad: you carry Nigeria on your shoulders every day. With caring and more compassionate leadership, the burden will be lighter for everyone.

To all Yorubas and especially Oyo State sons and daughters in the diaspora, note that while living abroad offers opportunities, many of you still carry heavy responsibilities for your beloved families back home due to failure of governance at all levels. It calls for collective action to support the movement for sincere and more proactive leadership in Oyo State.

Now that the people have spoken and have called on Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat to serve, wherever you are in the world, your support is needed so we can all reach the Promised Land. Financially and morally, we need your support. You can also support by mobilizing members of your families at home to come out en masse and vote when the time comes.

Dear Mr. Chairman,

I extend my heartfelt congratulations on your inauguration as the Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Area, the most populous LGA in Oyo State. I am fully aware of the tremendous effort you invested in winning the election. The people of Ibadan North have entrusted you with their mandate, and they will be delighted to see their trust reflected in your outstanding performance.

To achieve significant accomplishments in your new role, you need a team of great thinkers who are selfless, dedicated, committed, focused, and visionary—individuals brimming with actionable ideas. With such a team around you, a successful tenure is possible. Additionally, it is crucial to distinguish between politics and governance. The time for politics has passed; now is the time for governance. You need more individuals who understand how to turn challenges into opportunities, rather than sycophants, political opportunists, or flatterers.
