World Environment Day 2026

Environmental sustainability and agricultural development are deeply interconnected.

The health of our soils, water resources, forests, and biodiversity directly impacts food production, farmer livelihoods, and the resilience of our communities. As climate change continues to challenge agricultural systems worldwide, the need for sustainable and climate-smart solutions has never been greater.

Through knowledge dissemination, farmer engagement, and science communication, Radio IITA remains committed to promoting innovations and best practices that support environmental conservation while improving agricultural productivity.

On this World Environment Day, we celebrate the efforts of farmers, researchers, policymakers, and development partners working together to build a more sustainable future.

Protecting the environment today is an investment in food security tomorrow.

Nigeria is one of Africa’s most biologically diverse countries, yet many Nigerians have never seen professional images or documentaries of the wildlife and ecosystems within our borders.

As we reflect on the recent International Day for Biological Diversity, Conservation Focus explores why biodiversity matters, why Nigeria’s wildlife story remains largely invisible, and how photography, filmmaking, and storytelling can help drive conservation action.

Join Dajie Odok in conversation with Oluwasooto Ajayi, Founder of the Nigeria Nature Photography Awards, as they discuss the role of creatives in protecting our natural heritage and inspiring a new generation of conservation champions.

📻 Tune in and discover why people rarely protect what they do not see.
