A fresh political controversy has erupted in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State following the suspension of the Supervisory Councillor for Information, Mrs Folorunsho Oluwabukola, by the council chairman, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, ๐—œ๐—ง๐—ฉ ๐—ข๐—ป๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ can authoritatively report.

The suspension has been described by a chieftain of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Alhaji Adebisi Aremu Olopoeyan, as an act of political vendetta allegedly targeted at individuals perceived to be loyal to him.

Oluwabukolaโ€™s suspension was conveyed in a letter dated September 3, 2026, signed by the Director of Administration and General Services, Mr Victor A. Adelu, on behalf of Adeojo.

The letter, with reference number IDLG.744/, accused the supervisory councillor of engaging in alleged anti-party activities, stating that the development was connected with ongoing internal political tensions within the party in the state.

But Olopoeyan rejected the explanation, alleging that the real reason for the suspension was Oluwabukolaโ€™s political loyalty to him.

According to him, the development is part of what he described as a โ€œpolitical vendettaโ€ against his supporters, accusing party leaders especially the alliance secretary,Wasiu Adeleke of using government structures to settle political scores.

Olopoeyan alleged that the suspension was not an isolated incident, claiming that political actors behind the move had threatened to extend similar actions to other government officials across LGS who were considered sympathetic to him.

โ€œThis is political vendetta. They are using government offices to punish people for their political associations and loyalty,โ€ Olopoeyan alleged.

He further alleged that Oluwabukola was suspended because she refused to abandon her political relationship with him and being an authentic APM member, describing the development as an attempt to intimidate his supporters as political scores.

The council, however, did not cite Olopoeyanโ€™s name in its suspension letter and did not state that Oluwabukola was suspended because of her relationship with him.

The suspension took effect on September 3, with the council directing Oluwabukola to hand over all government property in her possession to the Head of Local Government Administration.

The letter did not specify the alleged anti-party activities or indicate whether the suspended councillor would be given an opportunity to defend herself against the allegations.

MURIC Commends Atiku for Vibrancy, Versatility and Resilience Ahead of 2027

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has commended former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for what it described as his vibrancy, versatility and resilience as Nigeriaโ€™s political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

MURIC, an Islamic activism platform, made its position known on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in a statement issued by its Founder and Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

The group noted that Atikuโ€™s persistence in seeking the presidency, despite having contested the position six times in the past, demonstrated what it described as legendary doggedness and resilience.

According to MURIC, the former vice presidentโ€™s approach to scrutinising and interrogating the activities of the current administration has been particularly impressive.

The group said Atikuโ€™s dynamism as an opposition figure was โ€œfascinating, inspiring and didactic,โ€ adding that younger politicians had a lot to learn from his approach.

MURIC further described Atiku as an experienced, articulate, bold and enterprising politician, while asserting that he had been ahead of Peter Obi in mounting political opposition to the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

The organisation said some Nigerians might not yet appreciate Atikuโ€™s efforts, but declared that he remained โ€œthe man to watchโ€ ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

However, MURIC stressed that its commendation of Atiku should not be interpreted as an endorsement of his candidacy.

The organisation said it had no preferred presidential candidate or political party at the moment, promising to make its position known at the appropriate time.

ENOUGH OF THE POLITICAL GAMES. THE PEOPLE DESERVE BETTER.

For too long, we have watched politics become a game of personal interests, where party structures are sometimes treated as bargaining chips and the aspirations of ordinary members are decided behind closed doors.

That cannot continue.

The political mandate of the people is not a commodity to be traded, negotiated, or handed over for personal advantage. The future of Oyo State belongs to its people, and they deserve to have a genuine say in who leads them.

ACCORD today is bigger than the calculations of any individual. It is a political platform with members, supporters, and people working at the grassroots. Those people deserve transparency, honesty, and respect.

Nobody should hide behind the name of the party to create unnecessary confusion, spread narratives that mislead members, or pursue interests that have nothing to do with the collective aspirations of the people.

As we approach 2027, the conversation should be bigger than individual political ambitions. It should be about Oyo State, its people, and the kind of leadership they want.

And for me, this is where my position remains clear.

I stand with ACCORD.
I stand with Alhaji (Dr.) Oriyomi Hamzat, our gubernatorial candidate.
And above all, I stand with the people at the grassroots.

We may face distractions. We may hear different narratives. We may witness political calculations and attempts to discourage those who believe in a different direction.

But none of that changes the work ahead.

No intimidation. No unnecessary distraction. No political manipulation.

Let the candidates present their vision. Let their records and capacity be examined. Let the people decide freely and fairly.

Oyo State is not anybody's personal property. The mandate belongs to the people.

The era of treating politics purely as personal business must give way to politics of service, accountability, competence, and the people's interest.

For me, my position is simple:

ORIYOMI IS MY MANDATE.
ORIYOMI IS THE CANDIDATE I BELIEVE IN.
ORIYOMI Dรˆ! ODร’Dร“ Dรˆ! ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿ”ฅ
