Makinde Distributes Cars to LG Vice Chairmen, Councillors; PDP Ward Chairmen Get Electric Bikes

Politics in Oyo State is heating up again as Governor Seyi Makinde has reportedly approved the distribution of brand-new vehicles to Vice Chairmen and Councillors across the 33 Local Government Areas of the state.

The vehicles are expected to improve mobility for the council officials and support their administrative activities at the grassroots level.

A self-confessed hired assassin, known only as “Shawarma,” has publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.

In a viral video reviewed by Peoples Gazette on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the individual claimed responsibility for the deaths of over 32 people in Ibadan.

When questioned about the number of individuals he had assassinated, he stated: “When they wanted to misbehave in Ibadan, I killed 32.”

Shawarma further asserted that security personnel, including the police and military, had released him and praised his actions. He then declared his support for President Tinubu, saying: “Even the police and soldiers freed me and told me I tried. President Tinubu will win the 2027 election.”

This statement follows recent comments by Yoruba Nation activist Sunday “Igboho” Adeyemo, who cautioned presidential aspirants Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar against campaigning in the South-West region and expressed his determination to secure a third term for President Tinubu.

The Oyo State Police Command has stated that it has no record of ever arresting or detaining an individual known as Shawarma.

In a statement issued to Peoples Gazette on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed that a comprehensive investigation has been initiated to verify the claims and confessional statements in the video.

“As a responsible and responsive agency, the command has launched a thorough investigation into the allegations and the confessional statements contained in the video,” the statement read.

“The investigation is being conducted leveraging advanced technology, including digital forensics and digital footprint analysis, to ensure a robust and credible outcome.”

The police command has appealed to the public to provide any information that could assist in identifying and apprehending Shawarma or his accomplices, promising further updates as the investigation progresses.

Ibadan Levels Up! From Waste to Wealth as Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Trade Center is Commissioned.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja “Arusa 1”, has commissioned the Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Trade Center at Araromi Market, Gate, Ibadan.
The project was facilitated by Les Executeurs Rapides Limited, an infrastructural service provider in collaboration with the Ibadan North East Local Government.
The event was graced by the Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja who was the Royal Father of the Day
He was accompanied by the Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, High Chief Senator Sharafadeen Alli, alongside the chief host, Honorable Ibrahim Akintayo; and the COO/Executive Director, Les Executeurs , MHD-Mansur Segun Tanimowo.
In his address, Ibadan North East Chairman, Honorable Ibrahim Akintayo flanked by his Councillors, expressed gratitude to God and all for their support in making the Trade Center a success as it stands on a former refuse dump, while pledging that 8 more Trade Centers are in the works.
In his overview of the project, the COO, Les Executeurs Rapides Ltd, MHD-Mansur while expressing gratitude to the Olubadan and all stakeholders for their support in the successful completion of the project which had been in the works for a while, also appreciated the Founder, AWA Foundation, Alhaji Wasiu Ademola Alli.
According to Mr. Tanimowo, the Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Trade Center, a project which was inspired by the Olubadan is fully solar powered and boasts of 62 shop units, six toilets upstairs and modern bathrooms.
He also assured that this is just the beginning as more projects are in the works.
Dignitaries who also attended the commissioning include Osi Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola Daisi, Ashipa, Oba Hamidu Ajibade among others.
