NSCDC MAPS OUT STRATEGIES TO ENHANCE SECURITY IN IDANRE... Agbelusi Ganiyu reporting.

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Idanre Local Government Division had recently embarked on some measures to enhance the security of lives and properties in the area.

One of these measures is, according to , Ogunyebi Adeniyi, the NSCDC Divisional Officer in Idanre Local Government Area, liaising with the Sanitary officials in Idanre Local Government to ensure that hoodlums don't use abandoned or uncompleted buildings as hideouts or launching pads of hoodlums and criminally minded people in the area of their heinous activities.

Mr. Ogunyebi, who made this known to Agbelusi Ganiyu of Idanre Media Services during his visit to 's Palace recently, revealed that they have gone round on surveillance and noted such potential buildings and structures that can pose threats to security in Local Government Area and he went on to say that efforts are on to secure the ears of the Executive Chairman of Idanre Local Government, Prince Kayode Adebambo Aroloye, to facilitate the Environmental Sanitation Department of the local government clearing of such places in conjunction with the owners.

He used the opportunity to state that the has been working with other security outfits to harmonize their activities for optimal performances while they are stepping up intelligence gathering mechanism to help proactive actions. He sought more cooperation from the traditional rulers, chiefs and community leaders because of the nation is a task of collective responsibility...

I swear to God, I will s@ck all lecturers who join ASUU strike – Gov. El-Rufai

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State says he will s@ck all the Kaduna State University ( ) lecturers if they continue to observe the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike.

has been on strike since February over the failure of the federal government to meet its demands.

Speaking on a radio programme in on Wednesday, July 28, El-Rufai told the lecturers to return to classrooms in order to avoid having their positions declared vacant, adding that KASU lecturers had no reason to join any strike.

According to him, “The Acting Vice has assured me that they will resume, but I have asked them to find out if they actually resumed work, because I initially instructed that their salary be stopped. But I was later told they didn’t join the strike, so I asked that it should be investigated and those that collected and joined the strike will be asked to refund the salary.

This is because Nigeria’s law says ‘no work, no pay’. This is the law. So whoever joined the strike will not be paid a salary. We have been telling the KASU lecturers that they have no problem with the State . ASUU’s problem is with the Federal government. Therefore, why will our who have no problems with us join the strike?

If this continues, I will wake up one day to s@ck them all, I swear to God. We will s@ck them all and declare their positions vacant on the pages of newspapers. They once did the same thing and we gave them warning, now they repeated it. I’m only waiting to receive the report from the commissioner for education. I swear to God, we will sack all those that joined the strike if they refuse to resume work.”

Gbajabiamila Enrolls In American University

The Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has enrolled in one of the most prestigious American Universities.

Lagos Reporters reports that the Speaker enrolled on a leadership course at the Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

In a tweet via his verified Twitter page on Tuesday, Gbajabiamila shared pictures of himself receiving a lecture alongside some other classmates at the institution.

The Speaker asserted that one is never too old to learn to broaden or sharpen his or her skills.

He wrote: “Back to class. In a leadership course at . Forget the number of grey hairs one is never too old to learn, broaden or sharpen your skills.”

Gbajabiamila’s tweet comes hours after the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Lagos State chapter, gave the Federal Government two weeks ultimatum to resolve its issues with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The Lagos NLC Chairperson, Agnes Sessy, stated this during a protest over the ongoing ASUU strike held in Ikeja, the state capital on Tuesday.

She warned that refusal to comply with ASUU demands could lead to a massive nationwide protest, similar to that of the infamous ENDSARS protest of 2020.

Recall that ASUU had shut all public universities and commenced its ongoing strike on February 14, after the FG failed to meet some of its demands

The demands are the release of revitalisation funds for universities, renegotiation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement, release of earned allowances for university lecturers, and deployment of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution platform for the payment of salaries and allowances of university lecturers.
