🚨Breaking News: U.S. Suspends Work Visas for Nigerian Truck Drivers**
The U.S. government, under President Donald Trump, has halted the issuance of work visas for Nigerian truck drivers and other foreign nationals in the trucking industry.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the decision on Thursday, stating that it takes effect immediately. He explained that this move aims to protect American jobs and address safety concerns.
According to Rubio, the increase in foreign truck drivers has been “displacing American workers and endangering lives on U.S. highways.”
This action is part of Trump’s renewed crackdown on immigration since he returned to the White House in January 2025.
In a related policy, the U.S. has introduced a visa bond program requiring visitors from countries with high visa overstay rates to pay a bond ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 as security. The purpose of this measure is to ensure that travelers depart before their visas expire.
This rule also applies to individuals who obtained “citizenship by investment” without residing in those countries, with stricter monitoring now implemented at airports.
