Joy Ahiakwo, an exceptional scholar from Caleb University, Lagos State, graduated with a remarkable 4.98 CGPA in Industrial Chemistry, earning the title of the overall best-graduating student for the Class of 2024. Despite her phenomenal success, Joy faced a significant financial hurdle during her studies at the University of Illinois, Chicago, which forced her to drop out due to the inability to pay tuition.

Her transition from the U.S. education system back to Nigeria presented challenges, but her supportive parents played a pivotal role in her adaptation. They provided comfort and assistance, including a standing fan for her hostel and transportation to and from school, helping her navigate the adjustment to campus life.

Despite her academic brilliance, Joy encountered difficulties with the traditional rote learning style prevalent in Nigerian institutions, preferring instead to grasp and apply concepts deeply, a method she later found at UIC.

As she struggled to secure funding for her continued education, she explored every avenue, from scholarships to crowdfunding, but was met with limited options.
