LECTURE ABOUT THE END TIME
PART 5
TOPIC: CHRISTIANS AND END-TIME REWARDS.
Revelation 22:11-12 Galatians 6:7
Revelation 22 is the final chapter in the Bible. It gives us a conclu.ding picture — a warning, a promise, and a reminder
What we do in this life echoes in eternity.
Outline:
1. The Finality of Moral Choices (v. 11)
“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still…”
This verse does not endorse sin but emphasizes that at Christ’s return, there will be no more time for repentance.
Eternal destinies are sealed.
There will be a time when the chance to change will be gone.
Today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). But at His return, the line is drawn.
Application:
What choices are you making today? Your spiritual direction is shaping your eternal destination.
2. The Certainty of Christ’s Return (v. 12a)
“Behold, I come quickly…”
The word “quickly” (Greek: tachy) means suddenly or unexpectedly.
Jesus is not delaying; He is giving time for repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
His return is imminent — it could happen at any moment.
This is a call to watchfulness and readiness.
Illustration: Like a thief in the night (Matthew 24:43), He will come when the world is least expecting.
3. The Reality of Rewards (v. 12b)
“...and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
Christ will reward each person — no one will be left out.
These rewards are based on works, not for salvation (which is by grace), but for service and faithfulness.
The Bible speaks of crowns:
Crown of righteousness (2 Tim. 4:8)
Incorruptible crown (1 Cor. 9:25)
Crown of glory (1 Peter 5:4)
Crown of life (James 1:12; Rev. 2:10)
Important Clarification:
Salvation is a gift (Eph. 2:8-9), but rewards are earned.
What we do after salvation matters eternally.
Application:
Are you living for the applause of men or the reward of the Master?
Conclusion:
Revelation 22:11-12 is both a warning and a comfort.
For the unbeliever: Today is the day to turn from sin and receive Christ.
For the believer: Let this be a reminder that your labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Cor. 15:58).
Call to Action:
If you're unjust or unclean, turn to Christ now — the door of grace is still open.
If you're righteous and holy, continue — your reward is coming, and your King is on His way.
The Two Major Seats of Judgment in Scripture
1. The Judgment Seat of Christ (Bema Seat)
Greek Word: Bēma – a raised platform where rewards were given (e.g., athletic competitions or legal rulings).
Audience: Believers only
Time: After the rapture/resurrection of the saints
Purpose: To reward believers based on their faithfulness, service, and works — not for determining salvation.
2 Corinthians 5:10 – “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ…”
Romans 14:10-12 – “…we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.”
1 Corinthians 3:11–15 – Works tested by fire. Some will receive rewards; others suffer loss — but still saved.
2. The Great White Throne Judgment
Audience: Unbelievers only
Time: After the 1,000-year reign of Christ (Millennium)
Purpose: To judge the wicked and determine the degree of punishment in the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:11-15
Other Judgments Mentioned?
*Judgment of the Nations (Matthew 25:31–46)
Also called the Sheep and Goat Judgment
Occurs after Christ returns, before the Millennium
Purpose: To separate nations/individuals based on how they treated “the least of these” (interpreted as Christ’s brethren — the Jews or disciples)
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Every human will face one of these judgments:
If you're saved: Bema Seat — live to hear “Well done!”
If you're unsaved: Great White Throne — now is the day to repent!
