EVERYTHING YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT HAND, FOOT, AND MOUTH DISEASE

According to experts, hand, foot and mouth disease refers to a mild, contagious viral infection common in young children and characterized by sores in the mouth and a rash on the hands and feet.
The disease which is mostly caused by a group of enteroviruses such as coxsackievirus primarily affects children younger than age 10, often those under 5 years.
Children in child care centres are especially susceptible to outbreaks of hand-foot-and-mouth disease because the infection spreads by person-to-person contact, and young children are the most susceptible.

Every June 19th, we recognize the strength of individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) — a genetic blood disorder that affects millions, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, including Nigeria.
SCD can cause severe pain, complications, and sadly, loss of lives when proper care isn’t accessible. In Nigeria, many families face high costs of medication, lack of access to treatment centers, and little awareness about genotype compatibility before childbirth.
Let’s work toward a future where no child suffers in silence.
✅ Encourage genotype testing.
✅ Support affordable and accessible healthcare.
✅ Raise your voice for those affected.
🩸 Sickle Cell is not a death sentence — with the right care, people can live full lives

When Alcohol Says 'You Are Welcome!'
By Deborah Bamishaye
Have you ever considered what a sachet economy is? It is a situation where almost every product has its sachet version, so people can easily afford it, especially because they cannot afford the Big can, Big bottle or the Big pack of most products they are in need of.
Detergents, Toothpaste, Vegetable oils, Milk, Curry, Thyme, various Spices and many more have since jumped on the sachet train and unfortunately, Alcohol is not left behind. There are different kinds of Alcohol in bottles and sachets, making its accessibility to drinkers easier than ever before. Various producers, some of whom are not professionals at what they do, keep emerging in our dear country. Although a percentage is included in some pharmaceutical products, it’s so insignificant that it does not come near the harm caused by daily or heavy drinkers. Combating Drug-Resistant Infections – Making Use of Blue Light

Scientists have achieved a breakthrough discovery that is able to revolutionize treatments for antibiotic-resistant infections, cancer and other challenging gram-negative pathogens without having to depend on precious metals.
Researchers at the University of Oklahoma have made a groundbreaking discovery that could transform treatments for antibiotic-resistant infections, cancer, and other difficult-to-treat gram-negative pathogens—without the need for precious metals.
Traditionally, precious metals like platinum and rhodium are used to produce synthetic carbohydrates, essential building blocks in many approved antibiotics that target gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a common cause of deadly hospital-acquired infections in immunocompromised patients. However, these metals are costly, require harsh reaction conditions, and pose significant environmental concerns due to mining practices. STRESS MARRIES OBESITY – CALLS HER ‘BABE!’

Which one will stop crying? Do you want to say you don’t know what I wanted to use the money for? Ha, CBEX? CBEX? E no go better for una. In fact…” The caller cuts in, “It’s ok now! Please, I don’t have a call card for raining curses on one unseen enemy just because I told you to stop crying. All I know is multiple sources of income is good with the situation of this country but definitely not MMM. I will send some details to your Whatsapp so you can make a choice. Just take it easy on yourself ok?” He hangs up.
No doubt, the present economy where most of the income of an average Nigerian goes for food, places a demand or need for extra income sources in order to pay mounting bills and this could lead to stress, unless smarter investment choices are made. Some close from work and go straight to shops they rented in order to make extra income. Non-office workers who have their own shops, still hawk around in order to make more sales. Some others are into online jobs in addition to the regular job just to make ends meet. Click the link to read more.. https://pharmatimes.com.ng/stress-marries-obesity-calls-her-babe/

SAYING 'NO' TO STROKE SOUVENIR THROUGH ADOPTABLE LIFESTYLE

By Deborah Bamishaye
Jobs with high demands and low control of work conditions on the part of the employees, have been linked to a higher chance of stroke. In some offices, most staff sit throughout because of the nature of their jobs demands, leading to - Stress. Stress can increase the risk of stroke, but it does not directly cause one on its own.
No doubt, chronic stress contributes to stroke risk by raising blood pressure, causing inflammation, increasing cholesterol and glucose levels, and in some people, it promotes behaviours like smoking and poor diet that further elevate risk but other factors must come into play to make stroke happen, it is not just stress. PETTING YOUR HEALTH WITH PET BOTTLES?

PET bottle is a plastic bottle made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET); that is where it got its name from. PET is valued for its strength, lightweight nature, transparency, and gas barrier properties, making it ideal for products like water, soft drinks, beverages and juices. It is also shatterproof and thermally stable. These bottles are recyclable, offering a durable and cost-effective alternative to glass bottles. However, it has a 'But' tag on our health. I'm sure you want to know, let's dive in!

Consumption of water or beverages and more from plastic bottles or cans can impact health primarily due to chemicals that leach from the plastic into the liquid. Click the link to read more https://pharmatimes.com.ng/petting-your-health-with-pet-bottles/

Understanding and Preventing Cardiovascular Disease in Nigerian Men
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a significant public health issue everywhere worldwide, and Nigeria’s not any different. Although it’s usually perceived as being a matter only for elderly individuals or specific populations, CVD nowadays also frequently affects Nigerian men of all ages, with seriously debilitating consequences. As a pharmaceutical copywriter, it’s necessary to highlight the principal risk factors and stress the importance of active prevention and control.
It is revealed through research that Nigerian men have a higher incidence of cardiovascular diseases compared to women and that the most prevalent CVD is hypertension (Akindele O. M, et al. 2009). There are other common diseases such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, and stroke. The economic burden of these diseases is enormous, especially in light of the relative youth of many Nigerians when so afflicted. Exploring the Carcinogenic Threat of Unregulated Skin Brighteners and Treatments

The pursuit of lighter skin tone or blemish-free complexion has unfortunately led many to the use of unregulated skin brighteners and treatments in an attempt to achieve a lighter skin tone or a complexion free of imperfections. Despite their claims of rapid results, these products frequently contain harsh, unlisted chemicals that are a serious and frequently underappreciated carcinogenic threat. It is imperative that the pharmaceutical industry shed light on this dangerous trend. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease: A Threat to Women's Health in Nigeria
By Divine Ifeanyichukwu

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is a serious and much too frequently underrated menace to the reproductive well-being of Nigerian women. (WHO 2016) This acute infection of the upper ge***al tract, involving the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries, has catastrophic long-term effects if it is not early and correctly diagnosed and treated.
The situation of PID in Nigeria should be understood for unmet clinical needs to be identified and for possible opportunities of effective interventions. Click the link to read more https://pharmatimes.com.ng/pelvic-inflammatory-disease-a-threat-to-womens-health-in-nigeria/
