Casualty in Careless Confidence
25th of January, 2023 was my very first time visiting Port Harcourt. I arrived some minutes past 10 at night. We had travelled more than 14hours already. That night, I lodged at East-West Road, Deeper Life Headquarters, Rumuodara to continue my journey to NYSC camp at Non-Wam Gbam Tai.
I was warmly welcomed by the Sister Welfare Coordinator, who had been following me up on the journey and accompanied by Assistant General Coordinator. I was shown the Mini Market within the camp where bread and beverages were purchased. Thereafter, was led to the lodge. I had managed to ascend on the staircases to the 3rd floor, backing my school bag and holding onto my meal when the other brother assisted with my travel box.
Three things were done. First, I ate what was bought , had a shower, then knelt down to pray just before I slept. A few minutes into the sleep. I had an experience that reshaped my life throughout the service year. In the encounter, I immediately knew that I was in for war. The war to either embrace impurity to gain advantages or steer clear for hell to let loose. To the glory of God, I held onto the latter and won after a protracted scriptural combat.
All things went well at the camp until one day, at the NCCF, where we daily pray from 6-7pm. A statement flooded my spirit- "And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him." My eyes welled up and my heart burned within me. Several questions flowed through my heart to God. Can a man not know when God has left him? Let's read the passage together.
Judges 16:20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.
Now, everyone must come to terms with this verse of the scripture. Let's deeply reflect on this verse. Now, check your life. Is the spirit of God still there with you? Are you still intact with God? Is your life right with Him? What steps are you taking that are not approved of God? Whose company are you constantly in?
Samson lied three times to Delilah. But, the enemy of our souls never gives up until their mission is accomplished. They have many strangely beautiful ladies who can give you their bodies to truncate your destiny. They have the resources to fund your education so long you will run out of your purpose in life. Their target is exactly where the source of your divine strength hides.
Every true child of God is a great threat to the kingdom of darkness. Your actions, thoughts, goals and visions distort, reverse, damage their operations. So, you're a great target. The only confidence you have is the presence of God in and with you. Never lose God's presence for man's presents.
