Obi, Atiku vow to appeal tribunal judgementPresidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abubakar Atiku, and that of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, have said that they would appeal the judgment delivered by the Presidential Election Petitions Court, PEPC, at the Supreme Court.The PEPC, on Wednesday in Abuja, affirmed the election of President Bola Tinubu and dismissed the petitions of Messrs Obi and Atiku for being unmeritorious and lacking in substance.Speaking to newsmen shortly after the judgment, counsel to Mr Atiku, Chris Uche SAN, said that his team had requested for a copy of the judgment in order to fast track the process of appeal.Mr Uche said that his client directed that the appeal against the decision of the court be filed immediately.The senior lawyer said that the PEPC might have delivered judgment but his cl

PEPT Fined APM, LP & PDP for filing frivolous petitions Presidential Electoral Petition Tribunal fined the three parties for wasting the time of the court on frivolous election petitions. These parties have been fined therein in line with the Judicial act 87, sub section 390 of 1968 (as amended) APM: N13,675,890.00 only. LP : N47, 910, 431.87 only. PDP : N23, 391,001.45 only.The learned judges advised the fines be paid within 48 hours after the judgement is given into the consolidated account of the Appeal court lodged at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

PDP rejects Presidential Tribunal's judgement, says “it’s against reason, facts and evidence presented in Court”.The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the verdict of the presidential election petition tribunal. On Wednesday, the tribunal struck out the various petitions filed by the PDP and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, against President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 election.In a unanimous decision, the five justices led by Haruna Tsammani, held that Abubakar was unable to prove claims of vote rigging and irregularities.The tribunal also ruled that Abubakar failed to prove that Tinubu should have been disqualified from contesting the election on account of a $460,000 forfeiture to the US government, after a Chicago court found that the money was the proceeds of he**in trafficking.In a statement issued on Wednesday

Ernest Nnajuiba Ukechukwu, a Nigerian national residing in Brazil, has been sentenced by an Accra High Court to ten years in prison for the possession and attempted smuggling of co***ne into Ghana.

The co***ne, weighing 16568.83 grams, was confiscated at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) by officials from the Narcotics Control Commission.

His sentence includes ten years of hard labor and a fine of Ten thousand penalty units. In case of failure to pay the fine, he will serve an additional three (3) years in prison. The sentences will be served concurrently.

Military announces a coup in Niger Republic on National television. President Bazoum regime has been toppled with this military coup.

Colonel Amadou Abdramane, who appeared to be among the leaders of the coup, took the centre position during the announcement, with nine other officers in military fatigues standing beside him.

Mr Abdramane addressed Mr Bazoum directly, saying the soldiers seized power to “put an end to the regime that you know due to the deteriorating security situation and bad governance.”

Mr Bazoum was eventually ousted despite widespread condemnation that greeted his detention. President Bola Tinubu quickly rejected earlier attempts by the military to seize power and sent a delegation to the country, which is Nigeria’s neighbour to the north.

Mr Tinubu had warned earlier this month that West African nations would no longer tolerate violent seizures of power in the sub-region.

Mr Bazoum assumed office on April 2, 2021. He survived an attempted coup on March 31, 2021, just two days before his inauguration.
