Title: THE TWO ENVELOPES
There was a young man named Jide who worked as a cleaner in a big company in Lagos.
Every day, he arrived before everyone, and left after everyone. He never complained. He just did his work with joy.
One Friday evening, the MD called him. "Jide, come to my office."
His heart was beating fast. He thought he was in trouble.
On the MD's table were TWO white envelopes.
The MD said: "Jide, I watched you for 3 months. I left money on the floor three times. You never took it. You returned my wristwatch when I left it in the toilet. You greet the gateman the same way you greet me."
Then he pushed the two envelopes forward.
"Envelope A contains your immediate reward - 200,000 Naira cash. Take it and go home. No questions."
"Envelope B contains what you truly DESERVE. But you must open it here, and you must accept whatever is inside."
Jide's hands were shaking. 200k was a lot. His rent was due. His mother needed drugs.
What would you have chosen?
Jide looked at the MD and said: "Sir, if you say B is what I deserve, then I will trust you. I choose B."
The MD smiled.
Jide opened Envelope B.
Inside was not cash.
It was an APPOINTMENT LETTER.
Position: Junior Operations Manager. Salary: 4 times his cleaner salary. Plus accommodation and health insurance for his mother.
The MD said: "I wasn't looking for a cleaner, Jide. I was looking for someone I can TRUST with this company when I'm not around. Money tests patience, but INTEGRITY tests destiny."
THE LESSON:
In this life, many people are chasing quick money, but they lose their character. Your honesty when no one is watching is your real CV. Your consistency is your loudest advert.
God and men are always watching. One act of integrity can change your entire story.
