*_Gifting And Talent 1_*
_A man's gift maketh room for him and bringeth him before great men._ Prov 18:16 KJV.
You may not think that you are particularly talented, but if you take a closer look at yourself, you’ll discover there is some ability you possess in more abundance than others. A talent is something that you are instinctually born with that gives you unique skills and abilities. A gift is a spiritual endowment not labored for but impacted at the time of the new birth, basically possessed only by saved people.
Gifts and talents are given to actualize purpose. Therefore, it is important to seek a proper understanding of your gifting and talent and how to develop them and effectively deploy them for the pursuit of destiny. The gifts and talents create uniqueness and make room for you. That is, they create the opportunities for success and greatness, and hand over the platform or space for performance and acceptability in life.
For further understanding, I have listed below a few differences between gifts and talents.
1. Talents are natural. Gifts are supernatural.
2. Talents are inherited. Gifts are given by God.
3. Talents are received at birth; Gifts are received or activated at the new birth.
4. Talents are possessed both by saved people and by unsaved people. Gifts are possessed only by saved people.
5. Talents can be improved upon. Gifts are instantaneously ready for use.
6. Both the gifts and talents may overlap being the same in the same person. E.g same person may be talented and trained as a teacher and still possess the gift of teaching at salvation.
7. The gifts and talents of the same person may be different. Here his talent differs from his spiritual gift.
In addition, we have what is called learned abilities. They are abilities that we have learned either by our own personal observations and trial and error or by being taught by someone else. Sometimes learning a skill can cause a natural talent to come to light and/or be maximized. For example, a person with a natural talent for maths has to be taught geometry or algebra, but because they have the mathematical talent they will learn it far more quickly and efficiently than a person who has no mathematical talent.
Regardless of your current state or experience, you have to come to terms with the fact that you too have talents others don't. And, if you are a believer you have gifts in addition. You need to start counting yourself among potentially great people. Start focusing on your talents and gifts. They will terminate the cycles of failure and frustration.
Going forward, then, begin to take cognizance of the things you can do without difficulties, especially the things others have to pay large sums of money, time, and effort to achieve. Pay attention to the little things and big things in life that never bother you, you know you can always sort them out. That's the secret to your breakthroughs and fulfillment in life. However, a believer, ought to surrender and consecrate his gifts and talents to the Lord and use them for His honor and glory.
