LILIAN ADOYI FELICITATES MAMA IGBE AT 100+, CELEBRATES A LIVING LEGEND OF IDOMA

Hon. Amb. Lilian Elakeche Adoyi Ofiebor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer for the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, has joined well-meaning sons and daughters of Idoma in celebrating the remarkable life of Hon. Mama Alice Igbe, who has attained the extraordinary milestone of 100+ years.

The celebration brought together people from across different walks of life, united by one purpose to honour an elder whose life represents longevity, cultural memory and the enduring heritage of the Idoma people.

Mama Igbe is widely recognised within Idoma cultural circles as a legendary folklorist. She is also among the personalities listed in the Idoma Hall of Fame's Legends in Sports, Entertainment and Culture category, announced as part of the Idoma Centenary Plus celebrations.

In her felicitation, Hon. Amb. Lilian Adoyi Ofiebor celebrated Mama Igbe as a symbol of strength, wisdom, history and resilience, describing her longevity as a blessing not only to her family but to the wider Idoma nation.

She joined the Och'Idoma, Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, the PDP Deputy Governorship Flagbearer, the serving Deputy Governor of Benue State, musicians including General Archi, skit makers such as WizzyBen, Meddy Olotu, bloggers including EbonyNaija and other distinguished sons and daughters of Idoma in extending warm wishes to the centenarian.

The gathering provided a rare meeting point between generations, traditional leadership, political figures, entertainers, media personalities and community members coming together to celebrate an elder and the heritage she represents.

For Hon. Amb. Lilian, celebrating Mama Igbe is also a celebration of the responsibility of younger generations to honour those who came before them and preserve the stories, values and traditions that define the Idoma people.

She expressed gratitude to God for preserving Mama Igbe to such an extraordinary age and prayed for continued strength, peace, good health and many more years surrounded by family, community and loved ones.

“Today, we celebrate not just 100+ years, but a life that has become part of our collective story as Idoma people. Mama Igbe represents a generation whose memories, experiences and cultural heritage must never be forgotten.

“May God continue to strengthen her, preserve her and grant her many more years of legendary life. We celebrate her, we honour her and we are grateful for the gift of her life.”

The celebration stands as another reminder that the greatest treasures of a people are not only found in monuments and institutions, but also in the lives of their elders whose stories connect generations.

Hon. Amb. Lilian Elakeche Adoyi Ofiebor joins the Idoma nation in saying:
Happy 100+ years, Hon. Mama Igbe.
May your legendary life continue to inspire generations.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has taken its 2027 campaign machinery to the heart of Benue South, with a major campaign flag-off held in Otukpo on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

The event, held at St. Andrew’s Primary School, Otukpo, brought together top PDP leaders, political aspirants, party faithful and supporters from across Benue South.

At the centre of the gathering was Senator Patrick Abba Moro, as the PDP formally commenced his campaign activities in the Benue South Senatorial District.

The atmosphere in Otukpo was charged as supporters arrived for the much-anticipated political gathering, displaying party colours, waving flags and chanting in support of the PDP.

Among the prominent personalities at the event was the PDP governorship candidate for Benue State, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN.

Aondoakaa emerged as the PDP’s consensus governorship candidate earlier in 2026 after other aspirants stepped down and endorsed him. Former Governor Samuel Ortom and Senator Abba Moro were among the key party figures involved in the consensus process.

Also present was former Benue State Governor and PDP leader, Samuel Ortom, whose presence further underscored the importance the party attached to the Benue South campaign.

The PDP leadership used the occasion to demonstrate what it described as party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Another major moment came when the state PDP chairman, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, presented the party's House of Representatives flag for the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency to Hon. Amb. Lilian Elakeche Adoyi Ofiebor, alongside other candidates.

For Lilian Ofiebor, the presentation marked another significant step in her political journey as she joined other PDP candidates in the campaign structure ahead of the 2027 elections.

The gathering also provided a platform for party leaders to speak directly to supporters about the road ahead.

Senator Abba Moro, who is seeking another term representing Benue South in the Senate, called on party members and supporters to remain committed to the PDP.

The senator also spoke about the broader political direction ahead of 2027, including remarks concerning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging supporters to consider returning him to office.

For many of those gathered, however, the bigger message of the day was clear: the PDP is positioning itself for a major political contest in Benue State and across Benue South.

The appearance of Aondoakaa, Ortom, Abba Moro and other major party figures created a strong display of political coordination as the party began taking its campaign message directly to the grassroots.

Benue South remains one of the most politically significant zones in the state, with Otukpo serving as a major political centre.

And with 2027 fast approaching, Saturday's gathering may prove to be one of the early indicators of how the political battle for Benue South will unfold.

For the PDP, the message from Otukpo was one of mobilisation, unity and preparation.

For the various candidates, it was an opportunity to formally step into the campaign season.

And for the people of Benue South, the political contest has only just begun.

THE BALL IS NOW IN OHIMINI'S COURT

With Lilian Adoyi-Ofiebor's emergence on the PDP platform, the political equation has changed.

But the decision does not belong to Lilian alone.
It does not belong to the PDP.
It does not belong to political groups.
And it does not belong to any political family.
It belongs ultimately to the voters of Otukpo/Ohimini.
For Ohimini, the 2027 election presents a particularly important choice.

The debate is no longer simply about who is more popular.
It is about whether the rotational understanding should continue to mean something.

It is about whether political representation should circulate between the two local government areas.
