Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has said the federal government will not allow insurgents to destabilise the country or intimidate its citizens.

His comments came after a series of recent attacks in parts of Borno State, where insurgents reportedly carried out abductions in Ngoshe and launched coordinated assaults on military positions in Konduga, Marte, Jakana and Mainok.

In a statement shared by the Vice President’s media aide, Shettima strongly condemned the violence and reassured Nigerians that the government remains committed to protecting lives and property across the country.

He noted that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already been fully briefed on the situation and has directed security agencies to respond swiftly. According to him, additional tactical resources and intelligence support are being deployed to the affected areas to strengthen the ongoing operations.

Shettima acknowledged that the recent incidents are troubling, but emphasised that Nigerians must not allow fear to overshadow hope.

He also stressed that the government will not permit any group to turn any part of Nigeria into a base for terror or attempt to displace communities from their land. Those responsible for the attacks, he said, will be pursued and made to face the full weight of the law.

The ancient city of Warri Kingdom was the centre of celebration and cultural pride as His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III honoured Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, with the revered chieftaincy title of Utukpa-Oritse.
