Dangote Refinery sacks all Nigerian workers 24 hours they joined PENGASSAN

The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has terminated the employment of all its Nigerian workers.

The development comes less than 24 hours after 90 percent of them joined the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN.

In a memo dated September 25, 2025, and signed by the Chief General Manager of Human Asset Management, Femi Adekunle, the company said the decision was taken as part of a “total re-organisation” of the plant following reported cases of sabotage in different units of the refinery.

The notice directed affected staff to surrender all company property in their possession to their line managers and obtain exit clearance.

The finance department was also instructed to compute benefits and entitlements for payment in line with terms of employment.

The refinery’s management thanked the dismissed workers for their services while in its employment.

The ADC has urged its members, including Mr. Peter Obi from the Labour Party, Nasir El-Rufai of the SDP, and Senator Aminu Tambuwal from the PDP, to leave their current parties and fully join their ranks.

The coalition has ultimately chosen the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform, distancing itself from the still unregistered All Democratic Alliance (ADA).

Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the coalition, stated that this decision was among the resolutions made by party leaders during their meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

The attendees at the meeting included the National Chairman, David Mark; former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola; former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai; former governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Tambuwal; and former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi

Abdullahi said, “The Coalition has rested everything concerning the ADA. That means, they are not interested in the registration or otherwise of the association.

“All the presidential aspirants have agreed to support whoever wins the primaries election.”

He additionally disclosed that the National Working Committee (NWC) is expected to soon schedule dates for the primary elections in Osun and Ekiti, in preparation for the upcoming off-cycle governorship elections in these states.

President Tinubu has instructed the NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to Immediately collaborate with the NNPCL, the Ogoni community, and other pertinent parties to finalize the plans for restarting oil production in Ogoniland.

On Wednesday, President Tinubu gave a directive after the Presidential Committee on the Ogoni Consultations, led by Professor Don Baridam, presented its report at the State House in Abuja. The Ogoni delegation was headed by Governor Siminalayi of Rivers State during the event.

The president said, “We are not, as a government, taking lightly the years of pain endured in Ogoniland. We recognise that, otherwise, we would not be here today. The Federal Government truly acknowledges the long suffering of the Ogoni people, and today, we declare with conviction that hope is here and is back with us.

“Accordingly, I am directing the National Security Adviser to commence immediately the engagement between the Ogoni people and NNPCL and all relevant stakeholders with a view to finalising modalities to begin operations. We must start by addressing non-valuable assets, which are of no benefit to the community, the country, or its people.”
