Counting the cost - 1

Have you ever looked at your overhead cost as a business owner and ask yourself, what could I have done better to reduce it? I have an answer for you.

Nothing helps your audience identify and relate to your business than a solid brand video. Video is one of the top shared pieces of content on social media.

Videos are processed by the brain 60,000 times faster than text according to confirmed research. It's now easy to understand why 90% of web consumers say that a video helps them make a decision to buy a business’ product or service. Wouldn't you rather seriously consider an approach that can help 90% of your potential consumers make a decision?

64% of people who visit a business’ website are likely to buy their product after watching a video.

Estate agency listings that use video get over 400% more inquiries than those without video. If you are still thinking you don't need videos, don't get left behind in the 1980s because currently, 71% of companies plan to increase their video marketing budget.

Talking about budget, we start counting the overhead cost of running the business because you need to seriously give video contents higher priority than ever before. A good business need an average of 1 video per week depending on the nature of business, it may be more. Average cost of producing a good video for business is roughly $80 ( ), imagine you fork out 120k per month to produce your videos. Imagine you could save that cost and use it for advertisement to push out the videos or invest further in the business.
At the end of the year, you would have saved #1.44m.

How to save this cost is to have a means to produce your own videos. There's a reason companies have dedicated media department. You may not have the money to hire one but you can start creating Your Own videos. Learn the basics of video editing and you're good to go. If you think you're too busy to attend a class, that's why there's online class for video editing where you can easily learn at your own pace.

For instance, In my Film House, a number of people that register for our online Master Class in Video Editing are very busy business owners who need help. I do tell them, you can't keep paying for every video you want to make. Rather enrol for a master class. You may still need someone to produce for you when you start but in a short time, you won't need such. It's to their advantage because even while trying to make their own videos thereafter, they now get free assistance and inputs from their tutors so they can't get stranded.

If you still feel you can't concentrate enough to do it by yourself, then enrol a staff of yours for stuffs like this. It's still an investment into your business.

A good business owner must weigh options and maximize limited resources.

Have you ever sat down to count your cost? I just gave you a wisdom to reduce the cost.

Mobile phone editors versus NLEs (4)

Before you click the link "learn video editing and graphics in few hours", read this and don't get scammed.

Video editing is a simple art to master yet it's very sophisticated. It's also in levels. When you get into it, you will realize it's got scales. There's a reason some people specialize on cutting and joining (video clips), while some focus on VFX (special effects) and some on colour grading etc when it comes to standard professional editing for movies et al.

My point is this, you can't master professional video editing in days not to mention hours.

Whoever (person) or whatever (course) that promises what is not realistic is a scam, it doesn't matter how sincere the presentation is. I can show you how to add music background to videos and do some tricks on phones using Apps (I've been doing this since 2009 on phones), it's very good for "quick fix" but that's not professional video editing, if I present it as such to you, I'm about to take your money and that's me scamming you. This is because the high expectations you have can't be delivered through the medium I intend to deploy.

Even if all you need is to be able to do simple edits for your YouTube channels, that's still a terrible approach. Go for a standard master class. Once you are done with the basics, don't go for the advance since you aren't preparing to edit the next Avengers movie. Fire on your YouTube channels etc.
Knowledge is an investment in yourself. Besides, "Standard" does not always mean "expensive and unaffordable".

Someone in my FilmHouse Video Editing master class yesterday testified to everyone of how he's been scammed twice by such stuffs only for him to discover me and he's already producing videos for his business and personal use in 2 weeks. Imagine the money and time wasted. It's sad but avoidable if you are just ready to get what you need through the right channels.

Please people, be watchful. Share and educate others.

Mobile phone editors versus NLEs (3)

Before you "learn video editing and graphics for 1k", read this. People get fooled only because they refuse to think deeply and ask questions, not because the deceiver is exceptionally smart.

Don't buy a course online because it's "cheap". Buy a course because you need it (either urgently or for future use), just define your own need because need is relative. Why I need it may not be why you need it.
When you go for a course because you need it, it means there will be certain things you expect to know after taking such course.

Ask questions to know if that 1k video editing and graphics class will deliver answers to those questions to which you're seeking knowledge. You will be amazed that nothing tangibly good comes that cheap. Discount offer is different from ridiculous offer. Get the difference.

In my FilmHouse Academy we offer discounts and bonuses a lot for our video editing master class but you won't find ridiculous offers. Ridiculous offers don't produce quality. For someone to convince you that Mobile Apps will produce what Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects will give you after training you is the Hushpuppy (scam) of the century.

It's a disaster if your expectation is to be able to produce a simple movie after your editing course but all you got is how to add filters and texts to videos.

If you want something tangible, explore the genuine channels and avoid short cuts.

Mobile phone editors versus NLEs (2)

Mobile Editing applications are entirely different from NLEs and don't execute same functions. Can you learn video editing on your mobile phone? Yes you can. But you can't execute professional video editing on smartphones.

I have students who register for my video editing master class who would tell me they don't have a laptop. I do tell them, you can still register since all materials are accessible on smart phones but you will only be able to practise once you get a PC. That's sincerity.
Many register and go on to later use their skill when they purchase a PC.

Outside this approach, to think you can practice professional video editing on smartphones is a mirage. When people say they have a course to sell on how to do video editing on smartphones, understand that it's highly limited. If it promises to equip you with standard professional editing skills, that's a scam. Another hushpuppy in the making. Don't let the cheap price deceive you. Don't fall for the fancy video Ads, they weren't edited on smartphones.

I once saw an Ad by an individual who promised to train people how to do graphics design on smartphones. Well, he was replying every comment but dodged the question from two guys. The question is "this banner for your ad, was it made on smartphone"?

Don't be fooled. Don't buy promises that can't be delivered. It is better to go for a training that is truly able to equip you for what you need. If you run such misleading Ads, stop the deception.

Mobile phone editors versus NLEs (1)

While you are desperate to master basic video editing in order to help your business and YouTube pages, don't fall prey of this.
The internet presently is flooded with Ads like "learn video editing using your smart phones", Learn video editing, all you need is a smartphone" etc. Many are rushing into this without thinking twice.

One, what kind of NLE will be used for the training? NLE means Non Linear Editing software like Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro etc. That's the first question you must ask before registering for any video editing class. Obviously, you can't use any of these NLEs on a smartphone. That should make you wonder, what of video editing are they talking about?

Two, what's the scope of the training. What exactly will it cover. Any standard Academy running a course on video editing will show you the scope. Basic Cam editing, multicam editing, dynamic links, muiltipanel works, audio synchronization etc. We do this in my own Editing Master Class. The scope will instantly make you know what's possible on a smartphone and what's not. You can tell, if you're about to invest in what won't really give you the kind of value you need.

Three, smart phones are becoming more powerful now, There are mobile phone editing Apps and they can create interesting videos but not professional videos that you see in the cinemas. You can't edit a feature film on those Apps. They're meant for "quick fix". And to their credit, they do amazing job for that kind of purpose. But don't mix things together. Don't buy an Ad telling you they can teach you to produce avengers on smartphone when their captivating 30 seconds video Ad wasn't even made on smartphone.

Lastly, From my experience as Lead instructor for my Academy. You can learn video editing on mobile phone but can't practise professional editing on mobile phone. I'll say more in part 2.

I hope this opened your eyes.

Online video editing Class - useful or useless - 3

In part 2, I discussed the importance of a support system to assist you as a student. Some years ago, I had a course on my PC bought from an online video editing Class. It's over 20hrs covering multiple topics. For months, I didn't touch it. Then one day, I had a project to do and I needed more skills. That was when I took up these materials and started studying them. In few days, I've covered a lot and gained so much. I could do the project, made my money and made more. This course profited me only when I had the right self motivation.

Since there won't be anyone sitting with you to drag you, you must have a thing to sustain your personal motivation and create enthusiasm.
The need to have a skill that can give 5 or 6 figure, the need to improve your YouTube videos, the need to advance your initial editing skills etc. Have a strong self motivation.

It's interesting to have access to wide materials and good support in an online video editing Class. But without self motivation, you won't maximize it. I've seen students who are enthusiastic when they joined our master class but then the passion waned while their colleagues fly high. I believe they lost their self motivation.

I've personally called students before to know what's up, but they have no genuine reason for not been active. Who pays for a class then lose interest? Those who really don't know why they needed the class in the first place. Been able to learn at your convenience is a gift online class offers, find your right motivation first, then join one.
