Below is all you need to know about the Host/ Moderator, Col Kingsley Archibong Umoh.
He is from Ikono LGA, Akwa Ibom State. He attended Federal Government College, Lagos between 1979 and 1984. He gained admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy on 10 Sep 88 as a member of 40th RC. He graduated with a BSc in Biology in September 1993 with a commission as 2/Lt into the Directorate of Army Public Relations. He has served in several Army Public Relations (APR) units, formations and higher headquarters. He also had operational experience in United Nations Assistance Mission in Sierra Leone as part of NIBATT 12.
Kingsley is a graduate of Junior and Senior Staff Courses at Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji. He holds a Masters degree in Media and Communications from the prestigious Pan African (no Atlantic) University, Lagos, another Masters Degree in Strategic Studies from the University of Ibadan, a certificate in International Public Relations and Advanced Media Management from the Management School London course, held at the Universities at Shady Grove, Maryland, USA and an Advanced Diploma in Management from the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON). Kingsley is a Distinguished Fellow of the prestigious National Defence College, Nigeria, a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK, Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Administrators and a Member of the Institute of Management Consultants on Nigeria. He is also member Board of Trustee Association of Nollywood Core Producers. He is the founding Chief Facilitator of Military, Police and Para-Military Public Relations Officers’ Forum (MILPOPPROF). He is the Chairman Board of Trustees of the Peace and Conflict Resolution Resource Centre promoters of MILPOPPROF and a Past President of the Federal Government College Lagos Old Students Assosciation.
He currently leads advocacy in the area of Security Communications through his NGO, the Peace and Conflict Resolution Resource Centre, dedicated to building the capacity of Public Relations/Information Officers through the Military, Police and Para-Military Public Relations Officers’ Forum. The major thrust of the activities of the forum is to elevate Public Relations practice and profession as a tool for National Security. Along this line, he has participated actively for the past 5 years in the African Public Relations Association (APRA) conferences in different locations across Africa, leading an increasing number of service personnel annually to these events. It is on record that through the activities of the Forum, the number of service personnel registered as PR professionals with the NIPR and APRA has increased exponentially and as at today, Nigeria remains the only country that continues to turn out service personnel at the AGMs of APRA.
