And it came to pass that the angel of the Lord spake unto me, saying: Behold, saith the Lamb of God, after I have visited the remnant of the house of Israel—and this remnant of whom I speak is the seed of thy father—wherefore, after I have visited them in judgment, and smitten them by the hand of the Gentiles, and after the Gentiles do stumble exceedingly, because of the most plain and precious parts of the gospel of the Lamb which have been kept back by that abominable church, which is the mother of harlots, saith the Lamb—I will be merciful unto the Gentiles in that day, insomuch that I will bring forth unto them, in mine own power, much of my gospel, which shall be plain and precious, saith the Lamb.

Exactly 25 years ago, on January 1, 2000, the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles published “The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles.” This is the original document: https://www.ChurchofJesusChrist.org/study/scriptures/the-living-christ-the-testimony-of-the-apostles. I am one of four living Apostles who signed my name to this landmark document, along with Presidents Dallin H. Oaks, Henry B. Eyring, and Jeffrey R. Holland.

Over the last quarter century this testimony has been read, studied, and even memorized by countless disciples of Jesus Christ. My study of this testimony increases my desire, every day, to be more like Him.

As I celebrate my 101st New Year’s Day, I continue to love the opportunity it provides for fresh starts, new perspectives, and new and renewed resolutions.

May I extend an invitation to you as you consider what your resolutions will be this year? I invite you to come to the temple as often as your circumstances allow.

In the house of the Lord, we focus on Jesus Christ. We learn of Him and His gospel. We make covenants that bind us to Him and to our Heavenly Father. Through these temple experiences and others, we are strengthened to achieve our New Year’s resolutions.

My dear friends, may this new year be filled with the light, love, joy, and power of our Savior and Redeemer, who is the Living Christ.

Once upon a time, in a forest, there lived a group of animals who were very different from one another. There was a slow-moving tortoise, a fast-flying eagle, a gentle rabbit, and a playful monkey.

One day, they decided to build a community center together. However, their individual differences quickly caused tension.

The tortoise wanted to take his time and build a strong foundation. The eagle wanted to fly ahead and start building the roof. The rabbit wanted to make sure the center was cozy and comfortable. The monkey wanted to add swings and trampolines.

They argued and struggled to work together. But then, a wise old owl intervened, saying, "Your differences are not weaknesses, but strengths. Learn to appreciate and use them to your advantage."

The animals took the owl's advice and learned to cope with their individual differences. They divided tasks according to their strengths: the tortoise built the foundation, the eagle constructed the roof, the rabbit designed the interior, and the monkey added the playful touches.

As they worked together, they learned to respect and appreciate their differences. They realized that their unique perspectives and skills were essential to creating something truly special.

When the community center was finished, it was a beautiful and functional space that reflected the strengths of each animal. They celebrated their differences and continued to work together, using their individuality to create something truly remarkable.

The story teaches us that coping with individual differences requires:

1. Appreciation: Recognize the value of each person's unique strengths and perspectives.
2. Respect: Treat others with kindness and understanding, even if you disagree.
3. Communication: Share your thoughts and ideas openly and listen to others.
4. Collaboration: Work together, dividing tasks according to individual strengths.
5. Flexibility: Be willing to adapt and adjust to others' needs and ideas.

By embracing these principles, we can turn individual differences into a powerful strength, creating something truly special and achieving great things together.
