It Is Time for Journalists to Speak Up.
A healthy life and proper welfare are not luxuries, they are necessities.
Governments at all levels must begin to recognize, respect, and support journalists, not only with tributes after their death, but with tangible care and appreciation while they are alive, working tirelessly and sacrificing daily to inform and serve the public.
Proprietors and CEOs of media houses have a moral and professional responsibility to prioritize the welfare, safety, and dignity of their staff. The true strength of the media lies not just in the headlines — but in the wellbeing of those who create them.
Journalism is service.
Journalism is sacrifice.
Journalism deserves support.
We must be protected, valued, and respected. This profession is sacred and our security and wellbeing must be taken seriously.
