EndSARS: Obaseki gives escaped inmates 3-days ultimate to return

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has given the inmates who escaped from the Benin Medium Security Correctional Centre, Sapele Road and the Oko Medium Security Correctional Centre up till Friday, October 23 to return voluntarily or face the wrath of the law.

According to Nigerian Tribune, the governor gave the three-day ultimatum in Benin on Wednesday, October 21, while on an assessment tour of the facilities in company of the the Controller of Correction, Edo State Command, Babayo Maisanda, who announced that six out of the 1,993 inmates who escaped during the jail breaks had voluntarily returned.

It would be recalled that some hoodlums who highjacked the peaceful protest in the state had on Monday attacked the two Correctional Centres and freed the inmates after unleashing terror on the facilities, its personnel and their properties, mostly, vehicles

MADONNA UNIVERSITY, NIGERIA RESUMPTION DATE OUT AS THEY ORDER STUDENTS TO PAY N25,000 COVID-19 TEST FEE

The Management of Madonna University,Nigeria wish to inform her staff and students that following a recent National universities commission memo, Ref: NUC/ES/138/volume.63/131 of 18th September 2020.

The three campuses of the university will be resuming for on-campus academics activities as follows;

1. All Staff; 28th September, 2020.

2. 300L-Final year students; 30th September, 2020.

3. 100L & 200L Students ;3rd October,2020.

Please note that university access protocol fee of twenty-five thousand naira (N25,000) only is to be paid each students in his/her respective campus on arrival.

: Adamawa Schools To Reopen On October 12

The Adamawa State Government has announced Monday October 12th 2020 as date for the reopening of both Public and Private Schools across the State.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who issued the directive, regretted the long closure of schools due to the crisis of COVID-19 Pandemic alongside other sectors of the economy.

Fintiri said “I am pleased to announce Monday October 12th as the date for resumption of academic activities from the Basic to Tertiary levels having wasted so much time.

As a Government we will not leave any stone unturned towards ensuring enforcement of the COVID-19 Protocols”.

Consequently, the Governor has directed the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development to meet with stakeholders in the sector to discuss modalities for the reopening.

The Governor has also directed school managers to observe the COVID-19 Protocols and provide the necessary requirements needed for the safety of Students.

He warned that “Schools must ensure Washing of Hands at entry points, use of Facemask and Hand Sanitizers as well as Social Distancing and proper Hygiene as any Institution or school found wanting risk closure and sanctioning”.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri also advised parents to take interest in the Health of their Children and Wards by assisting schools and providing the basic requirements needed for their Children in the fight against the Pandemic.

The Taraba State Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education has released the Public and Private [Primary and Secondary Schools] 1st, 2nd & 3rd Academic Calendar for 2020/2021 Academic Session.

Taraba State Schools Academic Calendar 2020/2021

FIRST TERM

Resumption: Monday 21st September, 2020 – Friday 18th December, 2020 (13 Weeks)

Vacation: Saturday 19th December, 2020 – Sunday 3rd January, 2021 (2 Weeks)

SECOND TERM

Resumption: Monday 4th January, 2021 – Friday 7th April, 2021 (14 Weeks)

Vacation: Saturday 10th April, 2021 – Sunday 25th April, 2021 (2 Weeks)

THIRD TERM

Resumption: Monday 26th April, 2021 – Friday 30th July, 2021 (14 Weeks)

Vacation: Saturday 31st July, 2021 – Sunday 29th August, 2021 (2 Weeks)

NOTE:

All National Public Holidays are to be strictly observed by public and private schools as may be directed by Federal or State Government.

Boarding Schools are to resume on Sundays while Days Schools are to resume on Mondays
All Principals, Headmasters/Headmistresses and Owners of both Private and Public Schools are to adhere to the provisions of the school calendar

No public or private school should therefore close early or resume later or go on mid-term break without the approval of the State Ministry of Education.

In a statement made available to newsmen today in Abeokuta, by the Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajibola, the directive was in compliance with the state government pronouncement that schools in the state should resume following the closure as a result of coronavirus outbreak.
