But happiness didn’t last.
After some weeks, strange things began to happen.
The house was too quiet at night.
There were rooms she was forbidden to enter.
She noticed movements in the dark… whispers she couldn’t understand.
One night, she finally asked,
“Why is that room always locked?”
Chief Adewale looked at her… and smiled.
“A woman should not ask too many questions.”
A chill ran down her spine.
Days later, her worst fear became reality.
One night, she woke up to strange voices.
Slowly, she followed the sound.
What she heard froze her blood.
“She will be perfect for the sacrifice.”
Her heart stopped.
It was her husband’s voice.
“Tomorrow night,” another voice replied. “Prepare her.”
Amina covered her mouth, shaking with fear.
Tears filled her eyes.
She had made a terrible mistake.
That same night, she didn’t wait.
She grabbed her slippers and ran.
Barefoot, crying, terrified, she ran through the dark streets.
“I was wrong… God, please save me…” she cried.
She ran until she reached a familiar place.
Kunle’s house.
She knocked desperately.
The door opened.
Kunle stood there… shocked.
“Amina?”
She fell to her knees immediately, crying uncontrollably.
“Please forgive me! I was wrong! I chose money over love… I still love you… please don’t send me away!”
The children stood behind him, watching silently.
Kunle said nothing.
The pain in his eyes was deep.
“I almost died,” Amina cried. “He wanted to use me for sacrifice!”
Silence filled the room.
Kunle turned and walked slowly inside.
Amina cried louder.
“I have nowhere else to go…”
He stopped.
For a moment, time stood still.
Kunle looked at his children… then at her.
His voice was calm but heavy.
“Love is not something you choose only when it is easy.”
Tears filled Amina’s eyes.
“I know… I was wrong,” she whispered.
After a long silence…
Kunle spoke again.
“Stand up.”
She slowly stood, shaking.
