POWER UP OBOWO:

SOLAR MINI GRID PROJECT OFFICIALLY BEGINS IN IKENANZIZI ATTRACTED BY CROWN PRINCE ENGINEER KEN CHIMA ANYANWU.

Relief has finally come the way of residents of Ikenanzizi in Obowo LGA, as the long awaited solar electrification project has officially commenced at the proposed site in Umuezigwe Amuzi.

The project, titled (Development of Utility Enabled Interconnected Mini Grid – Minimum Subsidy Tender), is for the Design, Supply and Installation of a 1500kWp / 1000MWh Solar Mini Grid Plant in Amuzi Obowo, Imo State.

According to the project management, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) is the implementing agency, under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Power.
The project is funded by the African Development Bank Group, with Central Electric International Limited serving as the main contractor.

The traditional rulers, community leaders and residents gathered at the site this week to witness the commencement of construction works, marking a major turning point in the quest for stable and sustainable power in Obowo.

The project was attracted to the community through the advocacy and facilitation of Crown Prince Engineer Ken Chima Anyanwu, the Crown Prince of Ndiuhu Amuzi whose commitment to rural development and energy access has been instrumental in bringing federal and international partners to Obowo local government.

Speaking on the development, stakeholders described it as “A DREAM COME TRUE ” for Ikenanzizi and surrounding villages that have grappled with decades of power challenges. The 1500kWp solar mini grid is expected to power homes, schools, health centers and small businesses, while creating jobs and boosting local commerce.

The REA noted that the mini grid model is designed to deliver clean, reliable and affordable electricity to underserved communities in line with the federal government’s renewable energy agenda.

Residents have been urged to support the contractor and protect project facilities.

A proud moment at Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, as a billboard was unveiled to celebrate our star boy, Egejurum Onyedikachi, on his arrival today.

At just 11 years old, Egejurum has been recognized as the world's best in the Primary category for Mathematics. His confidence and brilliance were on full display during the competition—he finished his exam so early that he simply fell asleep while others were still writing!

The Senate on Wednesday switched to manual voting for the consideration of the proposed state police bill after its electronic voting system developed technical problems.

The decision was taken to prevent any senator from being excluded from the voting process due to malfunctioning devices. Under the new arrangement, lawmakers will vote openly by standing up one after another, announcing their names, and stating their positions on the bill.

Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, moved the motion for manual voting, stressing the need for transparency and fairness during the constitutional amendment process.

According to him, relying on the faulty electronic system could disenfranchise some senators whose devices were not functioning properly. He argued that allowing every senator to publicly declare their vote would ensure full participation and accountability.

The motion was seconded by Minority Leader, Abba Moro, and received the support of lawmakers who said the process would make each senator’s position known to the public.

Senate Reverses Decision, Allows Governors into Chamber

Earlier in the day, the Senate also reversed an initial decision and approved the admission of governors and other senior government officials into the chamber to observe proceedings on the state police bill.

The request had first been rejected through a voice vote because Senate rules generally restrict access to the chamber floor to senators only, while visitors are expected to remain in the gallery.

The situation briefly delayed proceedings as invited guests, including governors and top government officials, were already waiting outside the chamber.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, appealed to lawmakers to reconsider the matter, noting that state governors and state assemblies would eventually play a key role in approving constitutional amendments related to state policing.

Following the appeal, Bamidele moved another motion seeking the suspension of Order 12 of Senate rules

*₦2,000 PER KG GAS: THE PAIN OF THE COMMON NIGERIAN*

Cooking gas is now selling for ₦2,000 per kilogram in many parts of Nigeria. A 12kg cylinder that ordinary families once refilled comfortably has now become a luxury.

Families are struggling.
Small businesses are dying.
Millions of Nigerians are losing hope daily.

This is no longer just about cooking gas. It is about failed leadership, poor economic policies, inflation, unemployment, and a government that appears disconnected from the suffering of ordinary citizens.

Nigeria is blessed with enormous natural resources, yet the average citizen can barely afford food, transportation, electricity, or even cooking gas.

The reality is painful:
• Food prices keep rising
• Fuel prices are unbearable
• Electricity remains unstable
• The naira keeps falling
• The poor continue to suffer

Meanwhile, politicians keep making promises while citizens struggle to survive.

In 2027, Nigerians must stop voting based on tribe, religion, party loyalty, or empty propaganda. The future of this country depends on competence, accountability, security, and real economic solutions.

A hungry nation cannot progress.
A suffering people cannot remain silent forever.
Nigeria deserves better.

2027 must be about survival, not sentiments.
