This girl named Faith Opesusi Timileyin took rat poison after seeing her 2025 JAMB result.

The 19-year-old girl, full of dreams and determination, had hoped to study Microbiology at the university. According to her father, Mr. Opesusi Oluwafemi, Faith had scored high in the previous year’s JAMB exam. But this year, she was shocked and heartbroken when she saw that her score was just 146 — far below what she expected and needed for admission.

“The pain was too much for her,” Mr. Oluwafemi said. “She couldn’t understand how she ended up with such a low score. That’s what pushed her to drink rat poison.”

Faith's sudden death sent shockwaves through her family and the community. She was a bright, promising young girl whose dreams were cut short by a result she believed did not reflect her efforts.

She is just one of many students affected by the outcome of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. After days of public outcry, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) finally admitted that errors occurred during the conduct of this year’s exam — an exam that recorded mass failure across the country.

Now, many are mourning Faith and asking how many more young dreams must be lost before Nigeria’s education system is truly fixed.
