Nigerian Institute of Building, Ogun State Chapter to Host 2025 Gateway Builders Conference

The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), Ogun State Chapter, has announced its readiness to host the highly anticipated 2025 Gateway Builders Conference, scheduled to take place from Tuesday, 28th to Wednesday, 29th October 2025, at the Raheem Intel Conference Centre, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State.

Speaking to pressmen during a venue inspection at Ilaro-Yewa, the Chairman of the Chapter, Builder Adebayo Dauda, revealed that this year’s conference will revolve around the theme: “Transversing the Landscape of the 21st Century Construction: The Builder’s Inputs.”

According to Bldr. Dauda, the 2025 edition marks a historic milestone for the Institute, as it will be the first time the Gateway Builders Conference is being held outside Abeokuta since 1990. He described this as a deliberate move to promote inclusivity, regional participation, and to celebrate the growth and contributions of the Yewa Division to the development of Ogun State’s built environment.

He further assured participants that they would experience the serene, welcoming, and culturally rich atmosphere of Ilaro-Yewa, a town renowned for its hospitality and commitment to education, craftsmanship, and community development.

The Keynote Address will be delivered by Professor Ola Fagbenle of the Department of Building, Covenant University, Ota, an accomplished scholar and authority in construction technology and management. Other distinguished speakers include the Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, and the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), alongside several leading voices in the construction industry, academia, and public service.

The conference will be chaired by Engr. Ayo Olubori, a former Commissioner for Environment in Ogun State, while the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, will serve as the Royal Father of the Day

Other dignitaries expected to grace the event include the Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bolanle Ajayi; the Executive Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, Barr. Abraham Ogunsola; Honourable Members of the National Assembly; and several high-ranking government functionaries and industry stakeholders.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Planning Committee expressed the Institute’s full preparedness to welcome Fellows and Members of the NIOB, students, professionals, and stakeholders in the built environment. He emphasized that the conference will serve as a veritable platform for knowledge sharing, professional networking, and collaboration on emerging issues in Nigeria’s construction sector.

Beyond the plenary and technical sessions, the conference will feature panel discussions, exhibitions, and interactive engagements that will promote innovative ideas, sustainability, and policy dialogue among builders, engineers, architects, and developers.

The 2025 Gateway Builders Conference stands as a testament to the NIOB’s unwavering commitment to professional excellence, ethical practice, and sustainable development within the built environment. The two-day event will commence daily at 10:00 a.m. at the Raheem Intel Conference Centre, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, and promises to be an inspiring and impactful experience for all participants.

YEWA TRADITIONAL COUNCIL HOLDS SPECIAL PRAYER SESSION FOR SENATOR YAYI AT 56

Traditional rulers across Yewaland, under the Yewa Traditional Council, alongside some of their counterparts from Remo, Ijebu, and Egba, gathered on Sunday, 10th August 2025, to honour Distinguished Senator (Dr) Aremo Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI, CON, FCA, with special prayer sessions on the occasion of his 56th birthday, at the Yewa Traditional Council Complex and the Private Palace of the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland.

The royal convergence featured an extraordinary triple prayer session, with blessings offered in traditional, Islamic, and Christian forms. These prayers were made in unison for the continued success, protection, and divine guidance of the Distinguished Senator (Dr) Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI.

His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu Ilaro, Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, emphasised that the gathering was to appreciate the Aremo of Yewaland for all his good works and, most importantly, an opportunity for the royal fathers to offer prayers for his continued blessings, good health, and strength. The visible contributions of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment were duly acknowledged and praised. Echoing the sacred tone of the Scripture, “Silver and gold have I none...," the royal fathers offered heartfelt prayers for Senator Adeola.

The 56th birthday celebration of Senator YAYI was more than a commemoration; to many, it was a festival. To Oba Olugbenle, however, it was a day to pray for a distinguished son, in whom he is well pleased. His Majesty once again congratulates Senator YAYI and pledges his continuous royal support for his vision of a new Ogun West.

Signed:
’Deola Adeyemi
Special Assistant to the Paramount Ruler on Media and Strategic Communications
