As a farmer, I care about more than just producing food—I also invest in my health. That's why exercise is non-negotiable for me. But let's be honest, 13km+ isn't "just exercise" anymore... it's premium bragging rights. 😂🔥💪

A few months ago, it was all about raising seedlings in the nursery.
Today, our bell peppers have started fruiting.

Trust farmers to always talk about the state of the country 😅😅

Most people only get to see the beautiful harvest, but rarely the realities and challenges that come with farming.

Today, I decided to share a quick video highlighting some of the weather-related challenges we've been facing on the farm.

As a farmer, I believe it's important to document moments like these because they tell the full story of agriculture—the unseen struggles, resilience, and hard work that happen behind the scenes before every successful harvest.

Farming is more than the results you see; it's the journey, the challenges, and the lessons learned every step of the way.

It's sad to see agricultural awareness programs and training sessions organized, yet attendance remains low.

What's even more surprising is that many people are doing incredible things in agriculture, but their work remains hidden—even from those of us who are passionate about connecting with farmers and promoting agricultural growth.

As farmers, it's important to occasionally step away from the farm and engage with fellow farmers. Learning, networking, sharing experiences, and building relationships are just as important as the work we do in the field.

Agriculture grows stronger when farmers connect with one another.

Scouting is one of the most important habits every farm manager should practice. Walking through your farm regularly helps you notice early signs of pests, nutrient deficiencies, diseases, or any unusual changes before they become serious problems. Paying close attention to your crops and environment allows you to respond quickly, prevent losses, and keep the farm healthy and productive.

Over the years, several initiatives have been implemented to revolutionize cassava production in Nigeria. These include the establishment of research institutes and agricultural extension services to promote improved cassava varieties and cultivation techniques. Government policies and programs have incentivized cassava production, processing, and marketing, while private sector investment has driven innovation in cassava processing technologies. Additionally, collaborations with international organizations and research institutions have facilitated knowledge exchange and capacity building in the cassava value chain. These initiatives aim to enhance productivity, increase value addition, and improve market access for cassava farmers, contributing to the overall growth and sustainability of Nigeria's agricultural sector.

Cassava, often dubbed the "lazy man's crop" for its low maintenance requirements, requires careful variety selection for optimal benefits. Despite its reputation for easy cultivation, the farmer must choose the right variety to maximize yields and quality. Selecting suitable cassava varieties tailored to specific soil conditions, climate, and intended use can significantly enhance productivity and profitability in cassava farming. Thus, while cassava may be low-maintenance, strategic variety selection is key to unlocking its full potential.
