on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha 1447 AH.
1. Brief History of Eid Al-Adha
Eid Al-Adha, the “Festival of Sacrifice,” commemorates the unwavering obedience of Prophet Ibrahim [AS] to Allah’s command to sacrifice his son Ismail [AS]. At the moment of submission, Allah replaced Ismail with a ram, signifying that true obedience lies in surrender to divine will. This event is recorded in Surah As-Saaffat 37:102-107 and forms the basis of the Qurbani [animal sacrifice] performed by Muslims worldwide during this period.
2. Importance and Lessons of Eid Al-Adha & Hajj
- Submission and Trust in Allah: Ibrahim’s willingness teaches us absolute reliance on Allah’s wisdom, even when the command is difficult.
- *Sacrifice and Generosity*: The Qurbani reminds us to share with the less privileged, strengthening community bonds and reducing inequality.
- Unity of the Ummah: Hajj gathers millions from every race and nation in one dress, one prayer, and one purpose, symbolizing equality and unity before Allah.
- *Spiritual Renewal*: Both Eid and Hajj call believers to renew sincerity, repentance, and commitment to righteous living.
3. Call for Peace, Safety, and Support for Government
As we celebrate, we urge all NASFAT members and the general public to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and vigilant. In this period of security challenges across the country, it is our Islamic duty to:
- Avoid actions that can breach public peace.
- Cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information.
- Support government efforts aimed at restoring peace and order.
The Zonal Missioner, Alh. Imam Abdullahi Ali Alaya, offered special prayers for lasting peace and security in Kwara State and prayed for divine guidance and strength for our government leaders as they tackle insecurity in the state.
The Zonal Secretary, Engr. Mustapha Omolabi [C.itp], called on the Kwara State Government to respond swiftly to security concerns in affected towns. He tasked the state government to expedite the implementation of *State Policing* as a practical step toward reducing insecurity and protecting lives and property across the zone.
May Allah accept our acts of worship, the Hajj of our pilgrims, and our sacrifices. May He grant Kwara State and Nigeria peace, security, and prosperity.
Ma'salam
Eid Mubarak!
Signed:
Engr. Mustapha Omolabi [C.itp]
