Former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Professor Ali Ahmad, has officially announced his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State.

He has expressed his intention to seek the nomination of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to run for the state's highest office.

The former legislator has revealed that he has begun consultations and strategic engagements within the party as part of early preparations for the electoral contest.

According to Professor Ahmad, his decision is motivated by a commitment to provide purposeful leadership and to reposition the state for inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Furthermore, Professor Ahmad refuted any speculations suggesting a potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), affirming his continued allegiance to the PDP.

Ilorin Emirate Multipurpose Pavilion: "It's God working through Governor AbdulRazaq"

“The pavilion that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq wants to construct in my palace, it is the Almighty God who directed him to do it. And he (the Governor) is someone who begins a project and completes it without wasting time.

The pavilion project will take a while before it is completed, and it will be done perfectly. I understand that this is the reason the Governor sent you to inform me that the project will be completed in eight months.

May the Almighty Allah not make our Governor someone who abandons projects. All the critical infrastructure he has been doing in the state, may they continue to impact the lives of the people and serve as references for good.

I thank the Almighty Allah that it is during my reign that these good things, which are beautifying our mosque and palace, are happening.

All of you sitting in front of me whom Governor AbdulRazaq has sent to me, may your relationship with him continue to blossom.

God is fully aware of the Governor’s intention, and He is pleased with it because his intention is good. May Allah answer his prayers and reward his kindness.

As for the workers, may you not encounter any work accident in the course of constructing the pavilion. The job you are engaged in here is a blessed one. As you step your feet into this place, ensure you make wishes, and they will come to pass.

Kwara Horse Club, Mohammed Gobir felicitates Emir of Ilorin on 30th Anniversary on throne

Mohammed Kabir Gobir, the Chief Executive Officer of the Kwara Horse Club and Resort, has extolled the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr. Zulu Gambari as he celebrates the 30th anniversary on the throne.

Muhammed Gobir conveyed deep admiration for the Emir, highlighting his role as a leader and a personal influence from childhood.

He said, the Emir has consistently supported not only him but also hundreds of individuals beyond Ilorin, Kwara State, reaching as far as Lagos, Ibadan, and other regions.

He revealed that, His Highness is regarded as both a ruler and a father figure, wishing him continued success and longevity on the throne, desiring to see him govern the palace with enduring happiness.

The CEO mentioned that a special celebration is taking place today at the mosque, with prayers for the Emir's long life and prosperity. He also noted a mini durbar held on Sunday, during which the community, led by their esteemed Ciroma, paraded through the city on horses to honor and celebrate the Emir and their heritage.

He revealed the significance of horse to the Emir and the cultural heritage of Ilorin City.

"The horse race holds particular significance, as the Emir possesses a profound affection for horses, having been an avid rider for decades. He was the first to introduce me to horse riding at the age of eight, and
and the young generation is encouraged to uphold this tradition and spread awareness of their proud history.

For those interested in learning or maintaining horses, he said the Kwara Horse Club offers comprehensive support, provides training to individuals, fostering a deep appreciation for horse riding as experienced trainers are available to impart their knowledge and passion.

He said his dedication to horse riding stems from the profound influence of the Emir, as it has been an integral part of their culture and history for generations.

VIDEO UPDATE ON REHABILITATED LAFIAGI WATERWORKS

Following recent claims that the Lafiagi Waterworks is not functional, the Ministry of Water Resources today, October 25, dispatched a team of engineers to the site with diesel to operate the facility.

This exercise was carried out to reaffirm the Ministry’s earlier position that the rehabilitation of the project has successfully been completed as announced in December 2024.

All pumps have been running non-stop for several hours today, with pumping still ongoing at the time of this report.

Relevant stakeholders and members of the Lafiagi community were also present at the waterworks to witness the smooth and continuous operation of the facility.

Water is expected to be released for public use as soon as the reservoir is filled up.

The Ministry, under the leadership of Hon. Usman Lade, has reiterated the commitment of HE Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration to finding sustainable solutions to the power challenge affecting the facility and ensuring uninterrupted water supply to the good people of Lafiagi and other communities across Kwara State.

The Ministry deeply appreciates the engagement on issues of governance, urging stakeholders to keep the conversations issues-based and focused on growth and mutual co-operation.

Alhaji Mahmud Sulu-Gambari Appeals to Kwara Residents to Shun Fake News Over Insecurity

Alhaji Mahmud Sulu-Gambari, Founder and Chairman of MSG Needy Care Foundation, has urged the people of Kwara State to disregard fake news and misinformation about the state’s security situation. In a statement issued today, he expressed concern over recent attacks on communities in Kwara, notably in Babanla and Oke Ode, Ifelodun Local Government Area, and extended his sympathy to the affected communities, praying for peace and safety.

“We are all Kwara sons and daughters, and it is unfortunate that some individuals would seek to exploit our current situation by spreading false information and alarm. I urge everyone to remain calm and vigilant, and to report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities,” Alhaji Mahmud said.

The philanthropist emphasised the need for unity and cooperation among Kwara State residents, urging them to focus on supporting the government’s efforts to address security challenges facing the state. “We must not allow the activities of a few mischievous individuals to undermine our collective efforts towards peace and progress. Let us work together to build a safer and more prosperous Kwara State for all,” he added.

Alhaji Mahmud also commended the State Government and the Security Agencies for their efforts in maintaining peace and order, and prayed for their continued success in restoring peace to the affected areas.
