A LAKE ABOVE AN OCEAN IN FAROE ISLAND

The Faroe Islands are an archipelago of 18 islands that were shaped by volcanic activity and the glaciers of the ice age. Seventeen of the islands are inhabited, and they are well-connected with paved roads, tunnels, bridges and ferry lines.

The name of the islands, Føroyar, means "Sheep Islands". Norsemen settled the islands in the 800s, and the name derives from old Norse. For generations the islands were isolated and self-sustaining, until the emergence of industrial fisheries in the late 1800s led to the Faroe Islands becoming part of the international economy.

Today, the Faroe Islands have a well-developed public sector and offer tax-financed public healthcare and education.

The Faroe Islands have become a significant player in the global market for fish. Faroe fish products constitute 90-95 per cent of the islands' export income and around 20 per cent of GDP.

The economy is robust and tourism is a growing industry. Almost half the population lives in Tórshavn, the capital, where busses are free of charge.

A teacher is like a mother of the world. Because they Tutored, Tailored, and Monitored the proper upbringing of people's child(ren). Your celebration since 1994 worth to be embraced.

Happy Teachers Day to all the teachers across Nigeria your impact can not be underrated. Thou it coming late but your works need to be appreciated.

Thank you for what you're doing because, with all the challenges you're facing, you're doing the best you can do.

I understand that our teachers are sacrificing for the betterment of the future, yet, our leaders need to appreciate them. Our teachers have worked but their benefit is been delayed.

I urge our government to please look into their side, and Our parents should also know that without teachers, nurturing their child(ren) alone will not be easy.

I Say Thank you to all the Teachers across Nigeria.

I'm Owolabi Toheeb Akorede. A Student of Mass Communication Department at the Federal Polytechnic Offa.

Sanwo-Olu Visits Hilda Baci, Backs Her World Record-breaking Attempt

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has drummed support for chef Hilda Baci as she attempts to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time.

In an attempt to clinch this record, the 27-year-old graduate on Thursday set up a four-day 'cook-a-thon' at Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos State.

Sanwo-Olu showed up at the venue on Sunday to meet with Baci and speak to other supporters.

Hilda is on a mission to cook multiple dishes for an expected period of time to get recognition from the Guinness World Records.

The current record for the world's longest cooking marathon is held by Lata Tondon who completed the task in 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 secs in Rewa, India in 2019.

As at the time of the report, the chef has exceeded 68 hours in her attempt.

Breaking: Telcos to disconnect bank customers from using USSD.

Nigerian mobile telecommunications companies consisting of MTN, Glo, Airtel and 9mobile are set to disconnect bank customers from using the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data services due to the N120bn debt owed to the operators.

According to a statement issued recently by the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria and signed by its Chairman, Gbenga Adebayo, the authorisation to disconnect Deposit Money Banks is due to their refusal to pay the debt owed to operators USSD and it has been approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission.

“Members of the public will recall that MNOs and DMBs have had protracted disagreements concerning the appropriate USSD pricing model for financial transactions, transparency of charges, mode of collection, and liability for payment of the outstanding and continuous service fees due to the MNOs (which currently stand at over N120 billion),” ALTON said in the statement.

The operators under the aegis of the ALTON said that with the NCC’s approval, banks will be disconnected if they fail to pay up.
