*PDP Celebrates Kwara's Resilient Teachers, Calls Them the True Heroes*
*...Urges Gov Abdulrahman to improve Teacher's Welfare*
The Kwara State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) celebrates the resilience, passion, and unwavering dedication of teachers across the state — both in public and private schools — who continue to shape the minds and future of our children despite operating under extremely discouraging and demoralizing conditions.
In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the Party described Kwara teachers as the unsung heroes of our society, whose patience, endurance, and commitment to the growth of the next generation deserve the highest honour and respect.
“We are proud to call Kwara teachers, both in the public and private sectors, the true heroes of our state. Their dedication and passion form the best part of who we become as individuals and as a society. Through their knowledge, wisdom, and values, teachers have been the guiding light shaping our collective destiny, and our words alone can never fully express our gratitude for their immense contributions to the Kwara project,”
The PDP, while commending the teachers’ enduring spirits, expressed deep concern over the poor welfare conditions, meagre salaries, and decaying infrastructure in most public schools across the state. The Party lamented that many classrooms in Kwara have become uninhabitable, forcing students in some communities to receive lessons under the shade of trees, a situation that should be unacceptable in the 21st century.
“It is also a national shame that in a state where billions are received monthly as federal allocations, a teacher on Grade Level 8 still earns a paltry N73,000 — an amount that is not even up to the monthly allowance of NYSC corps members — while Teachers in Oyo and Osun earn between N125,000 and N130,000. This disparity is a sad reflection of the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led administration’s neglect and lack of value for education and its workforce,”
The PDP therefore calls on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to immediately consider an upward review of teachers’ salaries and welfare packages, in the same way the Party had earlier called for a review of workers’ pay across the state. The Party insists that no society can rise above the quality and motivation of its teachers.
While urging Kwara teachers not to lose hope, the PDP assures them that a government led by the Party in 2027 will prioritize teachers’ welfare, introduce robust reward systems for excellence, and guarantee dignity in service and retirement benefits worthy of their lifelong sacrifices.

Olusegun Olusola Adewara,
State Publicity Secretary,
