A Muster After The Centenary: The Unseen Grace Behind C&S Growth

A recent post by Pastor Sam Makanju, a profound teacher in the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Akure, resonated deeply with many. As the C&S church marks its centenary, he reflects on a powerful lesson from this significant milestone—a lesson not about human effort, but about a unique, supernatural grace.

Amidst the divisions, scandals, and rumors that have often plagued the church, its consistent growth is nothing short of phenomenal. This isn't just a result of hard work; it's a testament to a divine decree. In Pastor Makanju's words, "something is working that is not natural—it's the grace of God, a product of a decree made in the heavens."

The Path Forward for Young Ministers
For young ministers and fledgling churches within the Aladura Movement, this revelation isn't just something to admire; it's a call to action. Pastor Makanju outlines a clear framework for tapping into this supernatural supply, and it starts with recognition.

Recognize It
We must first acknowledge that our growth is not accidental. It's a covenanted supernatural act. He points out that within the first four years of its existence, the C&S church had already spread across the Southwest and into the North. This kind of rapid expansion is impossible without divine intervention.

Celebrate It
The next step is to consistently affirm and celebrate this gift. It's a sovereign act of God that we must acknowledge often. This celebration isn't just about looking back; it's about building a culture of gratitude that fuels our future.

Maximize It
Grace, however, isn't a free pass to inaction. As Pastor Makanju correctly states, "grace can be in vain if labour isn't supplied." To truly maximize this gift, we must be ready to work. This labor isn't about human strength alone; it's about aligning our efforts with the supernatural grace God has already provided.

Our Labor: The Five Pillars of Growth
So, what does this "labor" look like? Pastor Makanju provides five essential areas for young ministers to focus on:

1. Labour in Prayers: We must thank God for the gift of growth and pray for our churches to thrive. Prayer is our direct line to the source of this supernatural supply.
2. Labour in Evangelism: The gospel must be preached with power to reach the lost. This is the primary vehicle through which growth occurs.
3. Labour in Teaching: We must teach the "whole counsel of God." This isn't just about attracting crowds but about grooming spiritual and complete people who can sustain growth.
4. Labour in Coveting Spiritual Gifts: Our forefathers used spiritual gifts to conquer difficult territories. We must contend for these manifestations with accuracy and frequency to move into new, hard-to-reach places.
5. Labour in Right Living: Perhaps most importantly, we must prioritize righteous living. The narrative that C&S members lack character and holiness must be changed. Our integrity and personal testimony are the most powerful tools for redeeming a soiled reputation and attracting those who seek a genuine walk with God.

In conclusion, Pastor Sam Makanju’s message is a powerful one. The C&S church isn't just a historical movement; it's a living testament to a supernatural grace. By recognizing, celebrating, and laboring in the right direction, young ministers can harness this divine gift for greater glory and mighty increase.

Centenary Celebration Sparks Controversy: Prophet Abraham Adebayo Weighs In

Prophet Abraham Adebayo, a prominent voice within the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, the Aladura Movement, has addressed the recent uproar surrounding a Facebook post he made. The post, simply stating "Centenary... Hmmmm," ignited a wave of reactions and "subtle jabs" from commenters. In a subsequent post, the Prophet clarified his stance, offering a multi-point reflection on the true meaning of the centenary celebration and his concerns for the future of the church.
According to Adebayo, his initial post was not a criticism but a deep-seated burden—a mix of joy and sorrow. He emphasizes that his concerns are rooted in a genuine desire for the spiritual health of his community, not a bid for attention or credit.
The Heart of the Matter: A Prophetic Perspective on the Centenary
Prophet Abraham Adebayo’s detailed response reveals several key points that highlight his perspective on the celebration and the state of his church.
1. A Burden, Not a Jab
Prophet Abraham Adebayo explains that his post was born out of a profound burden for the direction of the church. He likens it to the men in scripture who wept upon seeing the second temple, remembering the glory of the first. This "weeping" is not a sign of contempt but of genuine concern for what has been lost. He pointed that those with a true understanding of the church's original vision will see his sorrow as a call to prayer, not a criticism.
2. Division in the Face of Unity
Drawing on Jesus' prayer for unity, Adebayo points out the irony of celebrating a centenary while the church remains divided. He suggests that a truly prayerful person would be burdened by this disunity and would not "throw jabs" at someone else’s concerns. For him, seeing no problem with the current state of affairs disqualifies a person from praying or acting for change.
3. Human Ambition vs. Eternal Value
Adebayo stated that some centenary celebrations are driven by "human ambitions" and a desire for credit, promoting "mundane things that have no value to the eternity of men." He insists that a sincere cry for a return to the church's core mission should not be dismissed as "unnecessary."
4. Accountability and the Family
While affirming his love for other Christian denominations, Prophet Adebayo states his primary concern is for his own "family." He asserts that only an "illegitimate child" would ignore the ills within their own household. His burden stems from a commitment to the church's original purpose: to be a mirror of God's standard to the world. He believes that the existence of issues in other churches is no excuse for them to exist within his own.
5. Joy and Sorrow: The Full Picture
Finally, Adebayo explains the two-fold emotion behind his post. The joy comes from the church's survival against "vicious attacks" and the hope for its future. The sorrow, however, arises from the loss of the foundational virtues and realities that the church was meant to embody.

He lists specific virtues that he feels have become "scarce and wanting" in the church today, including:
A pattern of sound doctrine.
The spirit of power.
Evangelism and mission.
Prophetic ministry with integrity and accuracy.
The spirit of a psalmist.
Accurate angelic interactions without demonization.
The New Testament pattern of priesthood.

Prophet Abraham Adebayo's clarifying post serves as a powerful reminder that not all celebrations are purely joyful. It highlights a common struggle within religious organizations to balance tradition with foundational principles, and to confront internal issues even during a time of public celebration. His message is a call for introspection and prayer, urging his followers to look beyond the pomp and circumstance of the centenary and reflect on the church's true spiritual health.

Back to where it all began!

It was a full-circle moment this past Saturday as I returned to The Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Erin-Ile, the very place my media journey started. Ben Elohim Media had the privilege of working with the church, installing new media gadgets and conducting a hands-on training session for the new media team.
Our goal was to empower these dedicated individuals with the skills and tools they need to kickstart a professional media service for the church. Seeing their passion and eagerness to learn was truly inspiring.
We're not just about equipment; we're about empowering people to tell their stories with excellence. This trip was a powerful reminder of our mission to raise up kingdom professionals and elevate media standards, one community at a time.
