*DONT WASTE ANOTHER CHANCE*

*Text: “But the father said to his servants, bring forth the best robe, and put on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.” Luke 15:22*

He had all the opportunity in the world but wasted it. Wasted his father’s trust, wasted his inheritance, and wasted his time. Justice would have said it’s over with him. The father forgave him and took him back. This is the summary of the story of the prodigal son.

As far as God is concerned there is always another chance for us. The time we wasted, the opportunities we lost can never be a hindrance to what God wants to do in our lives today. The prodigal son was restored back to his dignity, restored back to his place and restored back to his destiny. The blood of Jesus is powerful enough to completely erase the past and give us a new beginning.

It can never be over with you as far as God is concerned. The lost relationship, the lost job or business in not the end of the road. What the devil meant for evil can become a comeback for you as you learn to return back to God. He’ll give you beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. A new day is ahead of you. Make up your mind not to waste another chance.

Every new day, new month and New Year that God gives is another chance to re-write the story of our lives. The history will only remain powerful and intimidating if we refuse to write another story today. Today is another chance of your life to make the most of your life. Don’t waste it.

*PRAYER:*
In the name of Jesus I break the hold of the past on my life. I disconnect from every mistake of the past. In Christ my honour is restored. I step into what belongs to me today. New opportunities are opening for me today in every area of my life.

*EXCITED ABOUT CHURCH*

*Text: “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.” Psalm 122:1*

Our anchor scripture today is an expression of David’s attitude towards the church. He had so much excitement about going into the house of the Lord. The church has a major and significant role to play in our lives. Each one of us must be conscious of this.

Please understand that the Church is not a physical building. Church is the body of Christ which has Christ himself as the head and the believers as the members of that body. Despising Church is despising Christ the head. We cannot claim we love the head when we despise the body.

We may have all manner of excuses not to go regularly; we may see irregularities that are keeping us away but then understand that the Church is not a “flawless” place but a perfect place where the perfect God works on imperfect people to bring out the perfection hidden in them. Please read this all over again. If you despise the Church you are more or less saying that you are perfect and the Church has no part to play in your life. It’s actually an expression of pride; you are seeing yourself as better than every other person that goes to Church.

The Church is God’s contact point on the earth where the lives of men are moulded and built up for their ultimate destiny. If you go to a right Church where the Spirit of God is in control and the word of God is taught you will grow and encounter destiny. The choice of a Church should never be taken for granted. So many people have believed wrong things all their lives due to a Church they have attended. The proximity of a Church to your house should never be a reason to be there. That your parents attended a particular Church should not be the reason to stay there all your life, except it’s a place where you are truly built up spiritually. To be continued....

*PRAYER:*
Lord cause our Churches to be a place of encounter with your power that changes live.

*THE HOLY SPIRIT IN YOU*

*Text: “But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord, and of judgment...” Micah 3:8*

The life of a believer is a supernatural life. It’s a life that is meant to experience the supernatural on a consistent basis. That is the only way we can rise above the limitations and the circumstances of this world. At the same time we must also realize that such an experience is only made possible by the operations of the Spirit of God.

It’s not by power or might, but by the Spirit of God.The Spirit of God came mightily on David and he was empowered to defeat Goliath. The Spirit of God was at work in Joseph and Daniel to interpret dreams. The Spirit of God came mightily on Samson and he went on to wrought mighty victory upon the Philistines. These and many more are evidences of what the Spirit of God can do in a life that is yielded to him.

Each one of us must be conscious of the person and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We are not ordinary men and women. We are filled with the Spirit of God and he has added “Extra” to our ordinary. We are extraordinary. This must become our consciousness. Don’t look at yourself as a failure or a loser. See yourself as someone that is filled with the ability to accomplish the impossible because the Spirit of God dwells in you. Wake up every day with this consciousness. Say it everywhere you go. If you are not conscious of this you’ll become conscious of your weaknesses and inadequacies. The more you do that the more you are dislodged from your place in destiny.

Wake up in the morning and say Holy Spirit I need you today; you are my teacher, helper and comfort. Depend heavily on the Holy Spirit and he will make something beautiful out of your life.

*CONFESSION:*
The Spirit of God is at work in my life. At work in everything I do. Everything ordinary has been taken over by the power of God in my life. I am extraordinary.

*CHRIST LIFE IN YOU*

*Text: “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more in abundantly.” John 10:10*

These words in our anchor scripture were spoken directly by Jesus himself. This is one of the many scriptures that explain clearly the purpose of Christ coming into our lives. He has come so that we may have life in abundance. This is not something that will happen when we get to heaven. We have life in abundance already. Since he has come we have life already. This life is the very life of God. It’s a life that is indestructible. Another scripture that looks familiar to the one in our opening verse today says “He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the son of God hath not life.” 1 John 5:12. It’s clear that we have life.

This must become our consciousness. The life of God is at work in us. We are filled with his life. Every fibre of our being, every cell in our body, every drop of blood in us is filled with the life of God. We must know this and declare it over our lives again and again. Recently I heard the testimony of a lady who was terribly sick and at the point of death; then she heard the voice of the Spirit say to her that she will not die. The voice of the Spirit said to her that she had declared life so much that it was impossible to die. The voice of the Spirit said to her that for her to die she will have to start declaring death over herself for another period of time. This woman had become so conscious of the life of God in her. It was a common practice to her long before she had the health issue to declare life over herself. We must not forget that death and life is in the power of the tongue.

We must become conscious of the life of God in us and begin to declare it over every area of our lives. That is what you have. The life of God is at work in you.

*A SONG:*
I have the life of God in me (2 times). I have the Spirit of the Son of God. I have the life of God in me.

PURPOSE OF NEW BIRTH

Text: “For whom he did foreknow, he also predestinate to be conformed to the image of his son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:29

The new birth experience is not just an escape route to heaven. This verse above clearly shows us that the ultimate purpose of the new birth is so that we may be conformed to the image of his son. If our Christian experience does not achieve this then something major will be missing in God’s ultimate purpose for our lives. Jesus came as the first born among many brethren. This simply implies that Jesus was set forth as the example and the prototype for our lives.

The ultimate purpose of the Christian life is not just to solve problems for you. If all your problems are solved and your lifestyle is not a testimony to people around you then God will be highly disappointed. In the words of Rick Warren “God’s ultimate goal for your life on earth is not comfort, but character development.”

Jesus was sent to restore the full image of God that man lost in Eden. What does the full “image and likeness” of God look like? It looks like Jesus. Jesus is the exact likeness of God, the visible image of the invisible God and the exact representation of his being. Just as Jesus is the exact image of the invisible God so also we also should be the exact image of the invisible Christ.

Rick Warren in his book ‘Purpose driven life’ said “Becoming like Christ is a long, slow process of growth. Spiritual maturity is neither instant nor automatic; it is a gradual, progressive development that will take the rest of your life. You are a work in progress.”Christ likeness is the result of making Christlike choices and depending on his Spirit to help you fulfil those choices. The Spirit of God uses the word of God to make us like the son of God. When you build Christlike character your life will become a testimony and the purpose of God will find unhindered expression through your life.

PRAYER:
Lord work in me by your Spirit to be like Jesus.

*PURPOSE AND PASSION*

*Text: “And he said, who made thee a prince and a judge over us? Intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, surely this thing is known.” Exodus 2:14*

Moses grew up in the house of Pharaoh, but along the line he discovered that he was a Jew. He began to feel that he had a responsibility towards the Jews to set them free. He went out to defend a Jew; in that process he killed an Egyptian. This became a problem for him. As Moses was doing this he never knew that his passion to defend and set free the Jews was connected to God’s ultimate purpose for his life.

He began on a wrong foot but God had to bring orderliness into his life in order for him to come into the fullness of divine purpose. He had to relocate to the wilderness for the fear of been arrested for murder. In that process he had an encounter with God after so many years. God had to send him back to the same Egypt to defend and set the Jews free. But now he was not going in his own strength and ability, but in divine strength and instructions. Fully equipped by God.

There is a direct link between our passion in life and God’s purpose for our lives. Not everyone will have vision or hear a voice from heaven, but we can take note of our passion in life. In the words of Bishop T.D Jakes “If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose.” I read the story of a woman who was a Bank executive, but she had passion for organizing events. She began research on events management to get acquainted with it. She also went to God in prayer to seek for direction. At the fullness of time, she began her own company. She followed her passion which led her to purpose. What do you have passion for? What problems draw your attention? What will you like to do even if you are not paid for it? That could be a pointer to God’s purpose for your life.

*CONFIDENCE OF PURPOSE*

*Text: “I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron.” Isiah 45:2*

There is a nagging question in the heart of every human being which is basically:

1. Am I doing what God wants me to do with my life?

2. Am I where God wants me to be?

The tenacity to pursue life is highly reduced when these questions cannot be answered in the affirmative. We must be sure that we are doing what God wants us to do in life and we are where God wants us to be in life.

There is really no point doing what God has not assigned us to do in life. It’s a waste of life spending our precious life where God has not assigned us. No matter how long a man lives it’s still short to do things that are different from God’s purpose for our lives. Life becomes fulfilling and rewarding when it’s spent doing the right thing at the right place.

People who become highly successful early in life are people who discovered on time the purpose of God for their lives and began to put everything into it. It will be a tragedy of existence to spend thirty or forty years of your life on a job or career that has no connection with God’s purpose for your life. By virtue of training if you find yourself in a particular field of endeavour you must also begin to seek the face of God to discover your place in destiny.

Men and women of purpose are highly confident. They have a heart-rooted assurance that they are in the centre of God’s program for their lives. This also gives us an assurance that God is hundred percent committed to what we are doing.

God’s commitment and involvement in our lives is what makes the journey of life great. This is our greatest source of confidence in life. Once you are sure that God is committed to you there will be confidence to face whatever comes our way in life.

*PRAYER:*
Lord go before me, lead me and point me in the direction of your purpose and plans. Separate me from whatever separates me from purpose.

*PURPOSE ARE IN STAGES*

*Happy New Month!*

*Text: “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.” Isaiah 28:10*

If you have ever seen an onion before you will notice that it is made of layers. One layer leads to another. We cannot access a layer until we have uncovered the upper layers. This is how purpose is unfolded also from one layer to another. We cannot access all the layers at once. Line upon line!

The first layer is the discovery of purpose. The second layer understanding purpose. The third layer will comprise of falling in love with it. The other layers will include the various phases of its fulfilment.

God’s purposes for our lives are fulfilled in phases and stages. This is an inevitable process that all of us must go through in life. Nothing becomes great on the first day it sets out. The peak is what we are all aiming at but we must understand that we cannot jump the steps. Nobody climbs a ladder from the top. This is so important because we all need to go through a maturing process in order to come to the fullness of God’s plans and purpose for our lives. If a woman is pregnant the foetus goes through various stages of development and maturity in the womb before the baby can be introduced to the external world. If a baby is born prematurely the baby is not fully developed to face the harsh conditions outside the womb. A boxer that wants to be a world champion will be a dead man if he starts his career from the heavy weight fight. He has to start from the light weight, feather weight and so on. The different stages build and prepare the fighter to take the punches in the heavy weight category.

These are illustrations to describe the different phases of fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives. Don’t be in a hurry to arrive at where you are not yet prepared for. The more we embrace and engage ourselves in God’s purpose for our lives the faster the maturity takes place and the more we move higher in purpose.

*CONFESSION:*
In the name of Jesus I receive grace of patience and sensitivity in the different phases of God’s purpose for my life.

*DON’T DESPISE PURPOSE*

*Text: “For who hath despised the day of small things? For they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with the seven....” Zechariah 4:10*

The grass is always looking greener on the other side of the fence. When we look at people who have discovered their place we tend to think that they are better than us. We can begin to wish that we have what they have and do what they do. The truth you must understand is that the grass on the other fence is green because the occupant has taken time to work on the grass. The occupant must have taken time to pull off the weeds and to water it consistently.

What you have and what God is asking you to do will not be exactly like what others are doing. You must understand that the purpose of God for your life is as great and powerful as any other person own is. We must therefore appreciate and celebrate who we are and what we are.

Despising purpose is when we look down on what God is asking us to do because others seem to be doing better than us. The reason why someone may seem to be doing better is simply because they embraced God’s purpose for their lives and took time to develop it.

We may also be tempted to despise God’s purpose for our lives because initially it may not look significant. The days of little beginning can be despised and disregarded. The days of little beginning is actually the bedrock for the greater things God wants to do in the future in our lives. The little of today will become great tomorrow if we embrace it and keep working on it. What is local today can become international if we’ll pay international attention to it right from the beginning. In God’s agenda a little one among us has the potential to become a thousand and a small one a strong nation. Get to work on God’s purpose for your life it will soon become the greener side of the fence to someone else. If you despise God’s purpose you have despised God and your destiny.

*PRAYER:*
Lord I embrace your purpose for my life with the whole of my heart. I choose to become all you want.
