KWBC Pledges Support for POCACOV Campaign Against Cultism, Social Vices

The Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation (KWBC) has reaffirmed its commitment to using its platforms to combat cultism and other societal vices through sustained public enlightenment and sensitisation programmes.

The General Manager of the corporation, Alhaji Kayode Aremu, stated this on Thursday while receiving a delegation of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) in his office.

Aremu pledged the corporation’s support for the POCACOV initiative, stressing that KWBC remained committed to promoting a sane and peaceful society through adequate enlightenment on the dangers associated with social vices.

He commended POCACOV for its efforts and initiatives aimed at promoting sanity at the grassroots, assuring the group of the station’s readiness to support its campaign through effective media engagement.

Earlier, the Civilian Coordinator of POCACOV in the state, Alhaji Salimon Oladimeji Gambari, commended KWBC for its leadership role in sustaining the campaign against cultism and other societal vices.

Gambari urged the corporation to sustain the momentum and further strengthen its partnership with the group in tackling the growing menace of social vices in the state.

He explained that the visit was aimed at seeking a strategic partnership with the broadcasting corporation to reactivate the campaign against cultism and other social vices through sustained on-air programmes and public enlightenment.

According to him, illicit activities have become a major challenge in the state, stressing that the group could not effectively win the fight without the active involvement of the media.

He therefore called for stronger collaboration between POCACOV and the media in order to rid the society of social ills, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Also in the entourage was the Force Coordinator of POCACOV, ASP Ibrahim Alanamu.
