WIFE PLOTTED HER HUSBAND’S MURDER — THEN STAGED A FAKE CULT ATTACK (Reader Discretion is Advised)
For nearly two decades, Alhaji Akim Salawudin and his wife, Omotayo, appeared to have the kind of marriage many people could only dream about.
They had three children, a successful family business, and a comfortable life. Akim was known to lavish his wife with cars, shops, and other expensive gifts.
But everything changed when Akim took a second wife named Tawa.
For Omotayo, sharing her husband was one thing. Sharing his wealth and attention was another.
According to the account of the case, jealousy soon turned into resentment. Omotayo reportedly began demanding more money, more property, and more expensive gifts. And when Akim refused to give her everything she wanted, something much darker began to take shape.
Instead of leaving the marriage, Omotayo allegedly decided that her husband had to die.
And to carry out the plan, she found a willing accomplice.
His name was Dapo, a 24-year-old ex-convict.
Omotayo allegedly promised him an apartment and money if he helped eliminate Akim.
Then came the day of the murder.
Dapo was secretly brought onto the family property in broad daylight and hidden inside a backyard store. He would remain there, waiting for nightfall.
Later that evening, Akim returned home completely unaware of the nightmare waiting for him.
Omotayo welcomed him as though nothing was wrong.
She prepared his food. She ran his bath. She sent their children to their rooms to study.
Everything looked completely normal.
But behind that calm exterior, Omotayo was allegedly preparing her husband for his final moments.
That night, she reportedly got into bed with Akim and remained close to him until he eventually fell into a deep sleep.
Then came the moment they had been waiting for.
When Omotayo was certain Akim was unconscious, she quietly left the room and brought Dapo inside.
She allegedly handed him a knife.
As Akim slept, Omotayo pressed a pillow over his face to prevent him from raising an alarm, while Dapo attacked him with the knife.
The man who had gone to bed expecting another ordinary night never woke up.
But the killing was only the beginning.
Omotayo and Dapo allegedly wanted investigators to believe that something far more sinister had happened inside the house.
They cleaned themselves up and began constructing a false story.
Dapo was reportedly dressed in one of Akim’s distinctive jalabia outfits so that anyone who saw him leaving from a distance might assume it was Akim.
The family’s phones were also taken to make the murder look like a robbery.
Then came perhaps the strangest part of the cover-up.
Messages were allegedly written on the walls, including the chilling phrase:
“Forgiveness is a sin.”
The scene was designed to make people believe that Akim had fallen victim to some kind of cult-related attack.
And for almost two months, the deception appeared to work.
Investigators and neighbors were left trying to understand what had happened, while the real story remained hidden inside the family.
But eventually, the plot began to unravel.
And it happened because of something surprisingly simple.
Dapo allegedly decided to sell one of the stolen phones.
That single mistake gave investigators a trail to follow.
They tracked the phone to its buyer.
The trail eventually led back to Dapo.
And once investigators caught up with him, the elaborate story began collapsing.
Dapo reportedly confessed and implicated Omotayo.
The shocking truth finally emerged: the bizarre crime scene, the stolen phones, the mysterious messages, and the supposed cult attack had all allegedly been part of an elaborate attempt to conceal a murder.
What began with jealousy and a bitter family dispute had ended in tragedy.
A husband was dead.
A mother was behind bars.
And three children were left facing the devastating reality that the woman they called their mother had allegedly played a central role in destroying their family.
Sometimes, the most frightening crime isn’t committed by a stranger hiding in the darkness.
Sometimes, according to the evidence in a case, it begins inside the very home where a victim believes he is safest.
