Life, they say, is unpredictable...

Just last December, Mezie lost his job over a mistake so minor even a blind boss would have overlooked it. But not Shaibu. Shaibu was different—rigid, cold, and petty. Yet, to the world, Shaibu wore a different face. Outside the office, he was a gentleman, admired by everyone, always smiling and respectful. But with Mezie? He was something else entirely—a wolf in corporate clothing. Wicked. Controlling. A master of silent humiliation.

Both men worked at GST Company—a booming business that distributed products like Panadol, Macklin’s toothpaste, and Sensodyne to pharmacies and stores across the city. Mezie, despite being a graduate, had no choice but to settle for a driver’s job due to Nigeria’s unforgiving job market. A grown man cannot just sit at home and watch his family suffer. So, when the job came, he grabbed it with both hands.

He was assigned to Shaibu, who was supposed to be his partner on deliveries. The job was simple: Mezie would drive them to the location, and both men were meant to offload the goods together. But from the very first week, Mezie did everything—driving, offloading, taking orders, and even cracking jokes to lighten tense moments. Why? Because to him, laziness was not an option. He was grateful to be useful again.

Soon, customers began noticing something.
It wasn’t Shaibu, the self-proclaimed "oga " that caught their attention—it was Mezie. His warm personality, jokes, and dedication made him the favorite everywhere they stopped. And that was when the jealousy started.

Enter Victoria. The lady shaibu met one day, he went to cozy pharmacy to introduce their product
Tall, graceful, skin like polished bronze, and eyes that carried storms and sunshine in the same breath. She owned Cozy Pharmacy, a prime location with steady traffic and loyal customers. Victoria was no nonsense—her poise intimidated men, but not Shaibu. No, he thought his lies were enough.

Shaibu tried. Oh, he tried.
He told Victoria he was the operations head at GST.
Said he lived in a two-bedroom apartment on the .
Promised to fund her pharmacy, expand her stock, even pay for a Dubai trip.
But Victoria didn’t even blink. To her, Shaibu was just noise.

That was... until that Friday.

They pulled up at another Pharmacy again for delivery. Shaibu, as usual, stayed back in the car like he was Elon Musk. Mezie got down and began moving boxes of toothpaste into the store.

He didn’t know Victoria was inside. She had stopped by to visit an old school friend working the afternoon shift. Dressed in a black polo and jeans, her long braids resting softly on her back, she stood at the corner of the store, unnoticed—watching.

She saw Mezie.
Saw the way he gently stacked the cartons.
Saw how he smiled at the salesgirl, cracking harmless jokes.
How he greeted a everybody in there immediately he entered .

She watched how sweat glistened on his forehead—but he didn’t stop.

And then.......

When I look back at my marriage, I sometimes wonder where the man I married went. My husband wasn’t always like this. In the beginning, he was everything a woman would pray for. When I had my first child, he was caring, supportive, and provided for us without hesitation. Yes, I was also working, and I contributed well to the home, but there was joy in the fact that we both carried the responsibility together.

But everything started changing slowly. By the time my baby turned two, I noticed he began withdrawing from his duties as a husband and father. He had a thriving business, yet he always complained that things were hard. At first, I didn’t suspect anything. I trusted him. I thought maybe he was just going through a phase.

But with time, it became worse. He left everything for me , school fees, food, bills, and so much more. He even started borrowing money from me with promises to pay back in a week, but paying back became a problem. Meanwhile, I was the one carrying the family on my back.

I endured it, hoping things would get better. But then I noticed something painful. The little money he spent, he used it on his extended family — his brothers, his sisters, even their children. But when it came to his own kids, he gave less.🥲

Outsiders envied me. They looked at my marriage and said I was lucky to have such a husband. They didn’t know the truth behind closed doors. They didn’t know that I was the one breaking my back to keep things together, while my husband — who had the means — chose to hold back.

Even after I gave birth again, nothing changed. One day, I confronted him. I told him I was tired, that I couldn’t keep doing this alone. He listened quietly, as though he was taking everything in, but afterward? No change. Yet when we attended occasions together, he prepared so well, dressed so fine, and made sure everyone saw how “responsible” he was. But at home, the story was different.

So I learned to keep doing what I could for my children. After all, they are mine. I’ll continue to give them my best and pray for God’s blessings. I still pray that my husband changes, because he wasn’t like this at the start.

While all this happened i realized something; Sometimes, the reality of marriage is not what people see on the outside. No matter the challenges, a parent must never fail their children.

And she believed hers wouldn’t be different.
So she picked her phone and called.

“Good afternoon, my sunshine,” she said with a smile.

“Afternoon my dear, how are you doing?”
“I’m fine oo. How is work?”

“Work is moving smoothly. We thank God.”

“That’s great. My matric is coming up next week,” she added excitedly.
“Okay,” he replied dryly.

Then she continued, “Please I need some money to plait my hair. All my friends will be coming to celebrate with me. And Your presence will make me the happiest girl that day.

I would love if you can take me some shots… so we can keep the memory alive.”

He replied, “I’ll try, if work doesn’t come up that day.”

Three days to the matric, she sent a text again,
“Babe please I haven't plait my hair.”

It wasn’t like she didn’t have the money or her parents couldn't provide, but she just wanted it from her Odogwu.😊

His reply came hours later,
“I don’t have money now.”

She frowned but still brushed it off — again.

The day finally came.

Family members came. Friends showed up. Her coursemates who got gifts and money flaunted them proudly. She waited. No sign of him.

She called.
He picked and said, “I’m occupied now. I will come later ”

He finally came when everyone had started packing to go. He didn't come with his camera, no too much excitement. Just a borrowed iPhone to snap one some photo.

His excuse? Long and boring.

Life continued...

He still hardly called.
Sometimes, he just disappeared for days.

Then one day, she visited.

They were lying on the bed, and the talk about the future came up.That was where everything happened.

“Will you ever beat me if I annoy you?” she asked gently.

“No, I won’t… but I can’t marry a wife who’ll be acting stupeed,” he replied, half-smiling.

She chuckled nervously. She thought it was a joke.

“What if I get pregnant? How will you help me out?” she asked, hoping for a sweet answer.

But his words shook her soul.

“Why will I help you out when you’re pregnant? Are you not a woman? As a woman, your job is to take care of the baby and the house. My job is to provide.”

Just like that… the light in her chest dimmed.

She remembered how he once told her about his elder brother treating his wife like that.
“In our family, that’s how it is.”

She looked at him. The face she adored was now a stranger’s face. Her chest felt heavy. She went home broken.

She didn’t call or text. Days turned to weeks. He didn’t check on her either.

That was when she saw it clearly — love should never be one-sided.

After weeks, she called.
“Did I do something wrong?” she asked.
His reply: “I’ve been busy.”
No apology.

“This is not how we used to be,” she tried explaining. You are acting strange
“If you’re tired of us, let me know.”

All he said was,
“Where are all these questions coming from?”

That was it. That was his last sentence to her.
She made a vow:
“If he doesn’t call, I won’t call. If he doesn’t text, I won’t text.”

Weeks passed. Months rolled by.
She moved on.

She poured her heart into her books.
She laughed again.
She healed afterwards though it so difficult.

Then, one evening, a call came in.
A number she vaguely remembered.

She picked it, and played silent, waiting to hear it .
Then a voice spoke,
“How are you doing, my love?”

She knew the voice. Her chest didn’t jump.

“Fine,” she replied calmly. She didn't greet
Every question he asked got the same answer:
“Fine.”

Then he asked,
“Can we please see?”

And she said,
“No.”

That was it.

Because now, she had found someone better. Someone who saw her worth, loved her deeply, and treated her like a queen.

Life Lesson:
“Love isn’t begging someone to treat you right. It’s knowing your worth and walking away when you’re not valued.”

So on a beautiful Sunday, she dressed hot and alluring — short gown, a little makeup, and sprayed her best perfume. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled. Today was their day.

She went to his place.

After the fantasy moment — where she gave him all of herself — he took her to a nearby clinic and paid for some expenses.
“Just to be on the safe side,” he said casually.

Later that evening, as they lay on the bed, she turned to him, her voice soft and hopeful.
“Sunshine… won’t you marry me?”

He paused. His face changed.
Then, with a deep voice, he said,
“Why would you even ask me that? Can’t you see I’m trying to organize myself first? I need to be stable, so I can take care of us.”

He pretended to be angry — like the question was an insult.

And her? She apologized again. Like always. Like he was a mini-god and she had just offended heaven.

Life continued...

A few months later, Ifunanya got admitted into the university.

She was so happy — she jumped, danced, even cried.
And the first person she called was him.

“Sunshine! I got admission!”

He paused, then said,
“Wow... that’s nice. What course?”

“Medical Laboratory Science,” she answered proudly.

There was silence. Then she heard a sigh.
“Matchewww... so you didn’t see Medicine, Pharmacy, or Nursing? Just common Med Lab?”

Before she could even defend herself, he ended the call.

It didn’t shock her anymore that he hung up. What pained her the most was that he never even asked,
“Can you handle it?”
“Are you happy about it?”
“Will you do well?”

She waited for a call back. Nothing.

A few days passed, still silence. So, like always, she picked up her phone, called several times until he picked up.
She apologized again.
And things went back to “normal” — at least for her.

His usual behavior continued:
He never called.
Never texted.
But I was always online.

Whenever she called, he would reply:
“I’m busy, I’ll call you later.”

Even when she tried video calling, he wouldn’t pick up.
She’d get the same message:
“I’ll chat with you later.”

But he would remain online for hours.

Still, she stayed.
Still, she loved him.

Until one day — he did something that shocked her to her bones.
You won't believe it

Well, Ifunanya was a fair young lady, just 18 years of age. Beautiful in her own little way, with a small body and a long mouth that always had something to say. She had a boyfriend called Obinna.

Obinna was 26, tall, a little bit muscled, and fair-skinned too.

Just to be called “Asa Odogwu”, a title that sweetened her heart like honey, she clung to him. She told everyone he was her boyfriend. Nobody even asked who came out first; nobody knew. But in her eyes, she was dating a very tall, fine man — her own Odogwu.

She was still helping out in the family business when Obinna went off for his NYSC. At camp, he shone.

He was the type of guy you’d see surrounded by girls, the mature-looking ones — tall, pretty, confident. You’d see them hugging him, laughing while his white teeth flashed like a torchlight in the dark.

One day, she asked him,
"My sunshine, who are those girls you posted?"

He replied sharply,
"They’re just my camp mates."

Then silence. He’d go cold, stop replying to her chats, and ignore her calls.

And her? She would start apologizing again. Sometimes for days… sometimes for a week straight. Even when she didn’t understand what exactly she did wrong.

But still, she begged.

He was a photographer, after all. So what was the point of doubting?
“He’s just doing his work,” she would whisper to herself.
“He’ll forgive me soon.”

And just like that, life continued...

All that time, Obinna was still in camp, and Ifunanya was still struggling to pass JAMB.

But that didn’t stop her from texting him — morning, afternoon, and night. She’d wake up with him on her mind and go to sleep still waiting for his reply.

And Obinna? He barely called. He barely texted.
But she held on.

Then the day finally came — it was time for him to return from camp.
They had drafted plans together.

But between both of them… who really initiated those plans?

Was it ever his idea? Or was she the one always hoping, always dreaming, always holding on to something that maybe… only she saw clearly?

Jerry was walking on the Street when a driver's foot slipped off the brake and his car ran over Jerry.

The driver alighted from the car, peeked at Jerry who lay on the ground motionless. He moved into his car and zoomed off.

Passersby tried to stop the driver but he had already gone out of sight.

They ran to where he lay on the ground to help him but he wasn't breathing.

Quickly, they carried him to a nearby clinic and the doctor at the clinic confirmed his death upon arrival.

One of the passersby searched his pocket and found his phone. He scrolled through it and dialled the first number in the call log.

The phone rang several times, and a feminine voice spoke on the phone, "Hello, Jerry, have you reached home?"

"Erm, Madam no be Jerry you dey follow talk, abeg dey come for Adonai Clinic, we found your number in his mobile phone..." He explained although he was not articulate.

"Please, what happened to him?" She inquired curiously.

"Madam, the person wey you dey ask for don kpai..." He told her.

Madam Cash's heart thudded, "What do you mean he's d,ead...I was with him a few minutes ago..."

"Madam, abeg come to Adonai Clinic...." The passersby said impatiently.

"Okay, I'll be there soon..." She uttered sadly.

She was bothered, she never believed her ears.
Madam Cash decided to call her friend on the phone, "Franca, you never told me that your recipe could be this dangerous..." She spoke loudly.

"What do you mean by that?" Franca probed.

"Jerry has been confirmed dead and his elder brother is in a vegetative state...kini ma shie ...what will I do now?"

"Please, if I may ask, who is Jerry?" Franca asked nonchalantly.

Madam Cash spoke with a cold, sharp tone, "Jerry is my brother-in-law..."

"Oh, your brother-in-law...is it not what you want? To be free from their disturbance...abeg no bother joor..." Franca hushed.

Madam Cash sobbed quietly, "You know my husband is still in the morgue, and now his younger brother..." She muffled.

"Madam Cash, don't worry about them, after they're buried, you'll have the property to yourself," Franca advised.

She sniffed and muttered quietly like she was exhausted, "Okay, let me go to the clinic to see Jerry's corp_se..."

"Alright, we'll talk later then..." Franca hung up the call.

Franca let out a long breath and then mumbled softly, "Hmmm, they think it's easy to be rich and free from the wahala that men give..."

Madam Cash changed into a long Bubba gown and wore a pair of sunglasses. She carried her Versace handbag, and she picked up the car keys and then moved out of the house to the garage where she stood for a while thinking which car she would drive to the clinic.

At last, she hopped into the G wagon, "Musa, open the gate for me..." She instructed.

A young lanky man ran out of the bungalow beside the mansion and opened the gate.

She drove speedily down the road, and she vibed to some lovely songs playing on the radio.

At the clinic, she requested to see the doctor, "Please, come with me to the doctor's office..." A lady in a blue scrub said to her.

She walked behind her until they got to the doctor's office.

She opened the door, "Good afternoon doctor," She greeted politely.

"Please, come in..." He said with a signal.

They discussed and then Jerry was deposited in the morgue.

She brought out some money from her Versace handbag and dropped it on the table.

"Please, doctor, I want this to remain a secret between the two of us..." She requested.

The doctor nodded, "Sure, I'm keeping it as a secret..." He said smiling.

"Thank you..." She uttered and then moved out of his office.

06/09/2025

Lucy was amazed at the drastic change in her husband's physique the next morning.

He was drooling at the mouth, and Jerry, who stayed behind to monitor his brother's health, was also shocked, "What's all this? Why are you pouring saliva out of your mouth?"

William blabbered as his words tumbled over each other.

"Stop this thing you're doing - is it intentional?" Lucy probed for answers.

"Don't you see he's no longer eloquent...I think my brother needs help," Jerry voiced out about his concerns.

Lucy rushed into the bedroom to get a towel to clean up her husband, and she murmured while doing that, "I can't endure this problem that you have; maybe you'll have to look for someone to take care of you."

Jerry didn't hear her because he was on call at that time.

He backed Lucy as he put the phone to his left ear, "Hello, go on, I can hear you now..." He said to someone on the phone.

A female voice, like that of Madam Cash, spoke, "I'd like to see you..."

He raised an eyebrow when she said she wanted to see him, "Eeeh, you say you want to see me?" He reiterated.

"Yes, I want to see you..."

"Why do you want to see me?" He questioned her.

Madam Cash twisted her voice to sound appealing, "You know your little nephew returned from school yesterday, and he has been disturbing to see you..."

His face lit up with a sudden smile when she made mention of his little nephew.

Jerry was fond of David because he reminded him of his father.

"Ok, I'll be at the estate very soon..." He said as he hung up the call.

He turned to see Lucy staring at him and the expression on her face showed she was already drained emotionally.

"Don't tell me you're going to see one of your numerous girlfriends," Lucy queried him about his movement.

Jerry's furrowed brow showed he was pi**ed, "When did you start monitoring my movement? The last time, it was my outfit. This has to stop..."

Lucy squeezed her face and looked away, "You should look for someone to take care of your brother because I'm tired ooo" She mouthed.

He hissed loudly, "He is your husband take care of him..." He muttered walking out of the house.

William sat on the couch looking dazed, and Lucy bent over to clean up the saliva on the floor.

Jerry arrived at the estate a few minutes later, he clenched his fist and knocked on the door after he had pressed the doorbell, yet there was no response.

He waited for about ten minutes more before the door was swung open.

"Come inside," Madam Cash said smiling at him.

Jerry didn't like the cloth Madam Cash wore, "I thought you said David returned yesterday from school..."

She nodded wordlessly moving closer to where Jerry stood.

"And why are you dressed in a revealing top and bum shot? You're not wearing a bra too..." He complained trying to look away.

"The weather is hot and the air conditioning unit is having issues," She answered moving her hand close to his trousers.

Jerry's eyes widened, "What do you think you're doing?" He interrogated taking a step backward.

"I'm trying to ease your stress..." She said seductively.

She unzipped his trousers, grabbed his gbola, went to her knees, and slid it into her mouth.

She bobbed her head up and down on his gbola, he exclaimed loudly, "Ha Ssssh."

He was expecting more of her skills and then she pushed him to the couch.

She gave him the reverse cowgirl position. He never stopped panting like he was going to collapse.

A few minutes later, he had her lie on the floor and he came on her face.

Surprisingly, Jerry watched as Madam Cash wiped his semen off her face, and with her fingers, she scooped it into her mouth.

He was so ashamed of his act that he ran out of the house.

On his way home, he had an accident....

The death of Deborah has proven that most women are vulnerable and could be treated mercilessly.

Imagine how gruesome it could be to be murdered by an ex-boyfriend who has refused to move on.

Deborah, I heard, was a hard-working lady and had started doing well in her business before the unfortunate incident took place.

Since I aspire to be in a relationship, I don't pray to have a toxic partner.

I guess Deborah must have seen some red flags when she was dating that miscreant, then, opted to leave.

But, the mumu guy decided to end her because he couldn't get over her.

I pray Deborah gets justice quickly.

06/09/2025

Princess and her elder brother rushed out of their rooms when they heard the incessant noise in the palace.

The terrified guards and Olama could only watch the king's fury, like a storm gathering, threatening to unleash destruction on the offenders.

"Father, what's going on here?" Anurika asked while he's elder brother stood beside her.

King Ajaero exhaled deeply, "The man who tried to attack you has confessed..."

"What is his confession?" The king's son asked gazing at the culprit.

The King continued, "He said Egbe had convinced him to attack you because it was Olama's idea."

Anurika and her elder brother looked at each other and chuckled. They reacted like they already knew about it.

She turned to face Olama, "And where's your accomplice?" She threw," I've known that you're of no use to my father from the very first day you stepped into the palace."

Olama bent her head in shame while Anurika raised her hands to her mouth in mockery, "Woo, woo, shame of you..."

She couldn't withhold the shame bestowed upon her, "I can't take this anymore, I'm going back to my father's house..." She stood from the chair, and she attempted to walk away.

"Where do you think you're going to?" The king interrogated pointing at the guards.

Anurika and her elder brother taunted her, "You think you're wise, you're as dull as an! diot."

Arinze and Nkume obstructed her from walking away.

"Where are the other guards?" The king inquired.

Okonta and Arinze stepped forward, "Bring Egbe before me..." He instructed them.

"Okay, my King..." They said bowing their heads. They hurriedly walked out of the palace and then, reappeared with Egbe a few minutes later.

Okonta reported, "He was trying to escape through the back gate..."

King Ajaero smiled wryly, "Egbe, do you know that young man over there?" He asked, pointing at the culprit, kneeling.

He shook his head in affirmation, "I know him."

The King continued, "Are you aware that he tried to harm my daughter? And he made mention of your name as the one who had convinced him to do that."

Egbe shook his head, "Yes, I'm aware of it..."

The king gave his order, "Take these two miscreants away from my sight, and I assure you that you both will have to face the consequences of your offense squarely..."

"My King, we're sorry...." They pleaded while being dragged out of the palace.

At Umuokwe village, Ezenwa met with Agaba, who was doing his normal house chores.

He flashed his teeth the moment he saw the palace guards, "Una biala.... you're welcome. How may I help you?" He uttered with his eyes fixated on his duties.

"We've come to take your wife to the palace..." Ezenwa narrated.

Agaba pouted his lips, "I hope all is fine...Let me go and call her," He rose from the small stool he sat on.

They waited at the entrance of the house, Agaba was yet to come with his wife.

Ezenwa stretched out his hand to knock on the door, "Agaba, please, don't keep us waiting..."

The sound of his voice echoed through the room, "We'll be out soon..."

Agaba reappeared without his wife, "Ha, where's your wife?" Elewa questioned him.

Agaba scoffed, "Hmmm, my wife is in bed, she said she's not coming out until she gets enough rest..."

Ezenwa was triggered by her laxity, "Ssssh, she thinks we're joking..."

They moved into the house and dragged her out, "I must tell the King to punish you all..." She boasted.

The guards didn't listen to her, "You think we're like your husband who has been caged," One of the guards said sarcastically.

Agaba walked behind as they moved to the palace with Ugbaku.

The messenger had gone to inform the Chiefs about the latest development in the village.

They arrived at the palace in their royal attire and not too long after, Ezenwa and two other guards arrived at the palace with Ugbaku.

Ugbaku looked at her daughter with a sombre expression when she saw her standing a few blocks away from the King.

She stood before the king, and he interrogated her, "Is it true that you hired a young man to eliminate Chief Onyema..."

She refused to speak, even after they threatened her she remained adamant.

"Your silence means you're guilty of the crime..." The King said to her.

Chief Onyema, said without fear, "This family is not a good one...I mean, look at a mother and a daughter accused of a conspiracy..."

Chief Amanze and Anayo nodded their heads without saying a word while Chief Ekweme looked away.

The king finally gave his verdict, "Ugbaku, Olama, and her accomplice, you're therefore, banished from Umuokwe..."

Agaba felt like scales had fallen off his eyes, he realized that he had caught his wife on top of his cousin before he was bewitched.

He jubilated and applauded the king for his fair judgment.
