Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma CON, has officially presented the Staff of Office to 66 traditional rulers across various autonomous communities in the state. The ceremony, held in Imo State Government House, Owerri, marked the formal recognition of the monarchs by the state government.

During his address, Governor Uzodimma reaffirmed that the state government does not interfere in the selection of traditional rulers, stressing that only those duly chosen by their people are recognized. He urged the monarchs to take an active role in addressing security concerns in their communities.

"I Feed Now As Ex-President From Renting Out One Of My Houses In Kaduna" - Buhari |

Former President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, disclosed that he now lived on money he earned from renting out one of his two houses in Kaduna State, insisting he did not corruptly enrich himself as president.

Buhari said Nigeria was a difficult country to govern because of its complexities, and tasked the leaders on transparency and accountability.

He made the revelations while addressing the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in Katsina State, at Government House, Katsina, ahead of the state’s local council election, scheduled for February 15.

The former president said most Nigerians were unaware of the administrative challenges involved in governing the country, but simply blamed their leaders during and after their tenures.

Buhari said, in Hausa, “Nigeria is a difficult country to govern, but most Nigerians are unaware. Until you find yourself in the administrative position of the country, if not, you will not understand the complexities.

“I look much better and healthier now than when I was the president of the country. Anybody that sees me now acknowledges that I look better than before.”

He explained that did not corruptly enrich himself with the country’s wealth during his eight years as president.

Buhari, who was visibly excited, added that nobody could blackmail him for illicit enrichment while in office.
He disclosed that he had only three houses in his native Daura, Katsina State, and Kaduna State.

He said, “After my eight years as a civil president, I have only three houses; one in Daura and two in Kaduna. I have given one out for renting where I get money for feeding.”

Buhari urged Nigerian leaders to adopt transparency and accountability as guiding principles while in office.

In his remarks, Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State urged APC stakeholders to mobilise electoral support across the state in preparation for the forthcoming local government elections.

Radda said APC chieftains should canvass for support in their respective local government areas. He stressed the importance of achieving total victory through popular votes while ensuring transparent electoral processes.

The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed, said, “We are committed to conducting elections that reflect the true will of the people.”

EFCC Staff Disappears After Stealing “Over 30,000 Dollars” From Exhibit Room 😳😱 |

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is enmeshed in another internal scandal as an officer in charge of Kaduna Zonal Office’s exhibit room allegedly absconded with over $30,000 and other valuable exhibits, we has learned.

Earlier in January, the country’s flagship anti-corruption agency said it had detained 10 officers in Lagos over theft of operational items they could not account for.

Although the commission did not disclose the specific items stolen by the officials, Daily Nigerian findings revealed that they stole gold bars worth over N1billion as well as over $180,000 and about GBP 140,000.

In the latest scandal, Daily Nigerian gathered that a member of staff of the commission, simply identified as Polycarp, vanished into a thin air when he failed to account for “over $30,000”.

Insiders who preferred anonymity told this newspaper that the zonal director, Benedict Ubi, a couple of weeks ago ordered for an audit of the directorate’s exhibit room, following the internal heist that occurred in Lagos.

According to the sources, when Mr Polycarp received the directive that the exhibit room would be audited, he took an excuse to ease himself and fled.

“Immediately after the order for the audit was given, he took an excuse to ease himself. Efforts were made to contact him but all his telephone lines were switched off.

“This is only what the preliminary audit on foreign currency shows. There are chances that more could be uncovered after a thorough audit of the exhibit room,” said a source familiar with the development.

This newspaper learnt that the commission had launched a manhunt to trace the fleeing officer’s whereabouts.

In 2019, an official of the commission was indicted for receiving $20,000 as bribe from a business man at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos state.

Despite his confession to the crime, he was reinstated by the then acting chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Magu. The matter was not made public.

In 2021, the anti-graft agency dismissed an officer after Daily Nigerian published a leaked audio in which he was heard helping suspects on how their accounts could be unfrozen and charges dropped against them.

The then spokesman for EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, described the officer as “a corrupt fifth columnist with scant regard for the values of the commission,” adding that his action was contemptuous of the Standard Operating Procedure of the EFCC.

“Without prejudice to the outcome of the investigation, snippets of the audio recording clearly showed an abysmally compromised ‘officer’ dropping names to ingratiate his benefactor, a relative of a crime suspect.

“By the alleged action, the said officer is no more than a corrupt fifth columnist with scant regard for the values of the commission.”

On January 6, the commission announced the dismissal of 27 officers from its workforce for various offences bordering on fraudulent activities and misconduct.

Although the anti-graft agency made it appear recent, credible sources however said it was the total number of members of staff sacked for fraud since the establishment of EFCC in 2003.

Attempts by our correspondent to get the reaction of the EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, were unsuccessful as he neither picked calls nor responded to an SMS sent to his known mobile number.

Nigerians Are Suffering Because Of The Problems In Southeast - Sen. Orji Kalu.

The Southeast can produce everything Nigerians currently buy from China. We can manufacture these goods in Aba, Nnewi, and Onitsha, provided there is consistant electricity supply and proper support from the government. Nnamdi Kanu should be released to help put an end to insecurity in the region and to open the Southeast to the much-needed development it requires.

A Medical Doctor k!lled EFCC officer in Anambra not Yahoo boys… said that he thought they were kidnappers

It was a Medical Doctor that killed an EFCC officer when they came like armed robbers in the middle of the night at a time the state was faced with insecurity and the man reacted in safe defence probably thinking they were robbers.

The man involved is a medical doctor with no ties to illegal activities. The pump-action gun he used was reportedly licensed. Normally, before the EFCC operates in any area, they are required to notify the local police. Unfortunately, this protocol was not followed during their operation in Awka that night.

When the doctor called to confirm whether the relevant security agencies were aware of the EFCC’s presence, he was informed that they were not. Believing he was confronted by kidnappers and acting out of self-defense, he fired when they broke into his apartment at midnight. Regrettably, two EFCC operatives were injured in the process. Upon realizing they were from the EFCC, he immediately dropped the weapon.

Meanwhile, the EFCC’s actions in Anambra have raised concerns. Initially, they attempted a raid in a particular area but were intercepted by the police, who were unaware of their operation. According to the EFCC, due to a shortage of personnel, they altered their plans and proceeded to raid a smaller location. They forcibly entered the estate and targeted apartments based on the types of cars parked outside, using them as indicators for which units to search. This raises the question: how did operatives from the EFCC’s Enugu zonal office go to Anambra amid ongoing insecurity in the state without informing the local police, especially while facing a shortage of manpower?

It is so unfortunate that we lost a staff of the commission, but this call for new strategy. I don’t buy into EFCC entering an apartment like criminals.

The went to media with story of Yahoo boys shooting EFCC operatives because they can’t defend mode of their operation in Awka that night.
EFCC should conduct investigation before invitation or even arrest.
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission should change their strategies to reflect intelligence!
