PETER OBI'S MANIFESTOE IS READY --------- PAT UTOMI

REVEALS THAT THE LABOUR PARTY STRUCTURE IS FAR BIGGER THAN THOSE OF APC AND PDP

Ahead of the presidential election in Nigeria and as political campaigns begin next week, indications have it that the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has gotten his Manifestoes for the 2023 elections ready and will soon make them public.

A chieftain of the party, Prof. Pat Utomi, gave the tip off while in an exclusive interview with Vanguard in Abuja, where he stated that Mr Obi’s manifesto was ready and would be available to Nigerians sooner.

He revealed that the reason for carefully concealing it till campaigns starts is to prevent opposition candidates from copying it.

He further posited that his political party has a structure far bigger than those of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and an opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said, “there is a manifesto ready, and it will be released before the campaign starts. We have it, but we decided to keep it secret until campaigns start.

“Those who understand what structure means know that LP has better structure than PDP and APC in Nigerian terminology. NLC has 10m registered members, and we are going to energise all of them into a structure so that it becomes a superstructure.

“We have a big tent which constitutes several social movements, several political parties with labour party as part of it. Several of these political movements, like the Congress of Professionals, which is a great Nigerian project, consists of 6 million members in every part of Nigeria.”

MANY LECTURERS WILL FLEE NIGERIA DUE TO INDUSTRIAL COURT VERDICT - ASUU PRESIDENT

Following the ruling of the National Industrial Court ordering lecturers back to class, the president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, has warned that the Judicial verdict will have far-reaching effects.

Fielding questions on Channels Television, Wednesday, the academic union leader said the aftermath effect of the Court judgment would be catastrophic.

He said: “Let me tell you the catastrophe of what has just happened. The last time this happened was during the military era. I can assure you, when this strike is over, a large number of our lecturers are going to migrate from this country. When you are using force to push your lecturers to class.

“First of, they said, ‘If we owe them, if we don’t pay them, they will come and beg us.’ Seven months, it didn’t work. Our members are still alive. And then, they went to court, you want to force them. It is a catastrophe. No country who is thinking about the future of their children, thinking about the health of the educational system, who believes in education, (leader) who believes in the future of this country, whose children are in those universities would try that.”

INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY:
APGA CANDIDATE CHARGES FOR COOPERATION IN FOSTERING PEACE AND UNITY IN IMO STATE AND NIGERIA

SAYS IT IS THE PATHWAY FOR A BETTER AND PROGRESSIVE SOCIETY FOR THE PRESENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS

A former Majority leader of the Imo House of Assembly and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) House of Assembly candidate for Owerri Municipal State Constituency in the state, Hon Lugard Osuji, has beckoned on leaders and stakeholders on the need to join hands together in promoting peace and unity in Nigeria, and Imo state in particular.

Speaking to CitiFive News, the former Imo lawmaker said that it is a "patriotic responsibility", "noble role" and "necessary pursuit" they must all take part in, in order to build a better and peaceful country, and state respectively.

Maintaining that a better and progressive society for the present and future generations can be achieved through peaceful coexistence, the APGA House of Assembly candidate streesed that ethnic and religious-bigotry, poverty, unemployment, inequality, and nepotism are among the common enemy confronting the people of Owerri Municipal, Imo State, and Nigeria, which they have to be united in defeating.

Chief Osuji maintained that, if elected to the Imo House of Assembly, he would through strategic legislations, tackle all forms of discrimination, ethnicity, poverty, unemployment, inequality, nepotism, and such other vices that fan the embers of disunity, conflicts and insecurity in his constituency as well as the State and country.

He said he would also ensure that equity, fairness and fundametal human rights are respected and protected, regardless of ethnic, religious and political inclinations.

I'M THE ONLY PERSON THAT COMMANDS THE RESPECT AND CONTROL OF NIGERIAN YOUTHS, PETER OBI'S POPULARITY IS ONLY ONLINE ------- GOV. YAHA BELLO

SAYS HIS APPOINTMENT AS TINUBU'S NATIONAL YOUTH COORDINATOR IS AN INDICATION THAT HIS ADMINISTRATION WILL BE PRO-YOUTH

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has postulated that he remains the only person in Nigeria that commands the respect and control of the youths of the country.

While fielding questions on Channels Television, the Kogi Governor said that the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is only popular online which is different from grassroot movement and mobilization.

He said" "during the contest, before the presidential primary of all political party, the only person that commands the respect and control of Nigerian youths is Gov. Yahaya Bello.

"Peter Obi, I respect him, a gentle man, one time governor, a business man who everybody knows has engaged in several business including importation of majority of what we consume today in the country.

"He is doing well in his own right, but let me tell you; first online agitation or whatever, is different from grassroot movement and mobilization.

"Prior to my reelection in 2019 , two prominent citizens conducted opinion poll about my winning the election in Kogi state, and they marked my down. I simply laughed because they are not on ground, they fly in the sky, they don't move by the road. They don't have connection at all with the people.

"In this coming election, you would see strategy, you would know that Gov. Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress, the Executive Governor of Kogi state have the command of and respect of the Nigerian youth, and of course, they are looking forward to me coordinating them and directing them aright."

Meanwhile, the Kogi government also stated that his appoint as the National Youth Coordinator of the APC Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, suggests that his administration would be pro-youth if he becomes president.

"The step that our candidate, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have taken in appointing me to lead the way, coordinate the youths is an indication that his government come 29th of May, 2023 when he would have been sworn in as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is an indication that he is going to be pro-youth, younger generations, pro-Nigerians," he said.
