It Was a Fantastic Outing: Pitch 5.0 ✓

Firstly, I give all glory to Almighty Allah for His endless mercies. Unlike previous editions, time was not on our side this year; my team and I had a lot of commitments, yet we desired to make Pitch 5 not just successful, but classic and exceptional—considering the significance of the number 5. Within just a few weeks, we had no choice but to begin. Pitch 5 had to hold, irrespective of the competing activities.

Then boom!—we set the ball rolling. We crafted a compelling topic: “Transforming Nigeria: The Impact of the Formal and Informal Sectors on National Development.” A topic of this depth requires speakers with exceptional intellectual capacity, and indeed, we got the very best. From the keynote speaker to the panelists, it was a star-studded lineup—individuals with both local and international exposure who did absolute justice to the conversation.

Let me humbly say this: Pitch 5 was simply the best so far, and Allah made it happen. We delivered—though not without a few flaws—but nothing too obvious, and we remain committed to continuous improvement. It is on this note that I express my deep appreciation to everyone who contributed to making Pitch 5 a huge success.

To my Boss and the Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, you are wonderful.
To Hon. Francis Adebisi, thank you sincerely.
To the Executive Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, Hon. Abiodun Agbaje (Ijoba Irorun)—ẹ ṣe gan sir.
To our brilliant, intelligent and vibrant keynote speaker, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Vinod Obasa—may Allah continue to guide your path for the 'triple role' you played.

To Hon. Razaq Ajala, I am yet to meet a soul as humble as you. Your belief in making others succeed is inspiring. We invited you to speak—it was our duty to give an honorarium—but the reverse happened. You not only spoke brilliantly, you still gifted us cash. This means a lot to me. May Allah continue to bless you richly.

To the Honourable Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe,Mr. Akeem Salami, and every other contributor—God bless you all for making Pitch 5 a remarkable success.

And to Hon. Akinola Idowu Bashiru—you have been attending our events from inception, always giving objective contributions. You applaud our efforts, you critique us constructively, and you offer solutions. Every error you pointed out over the years has helped us improve, and you affirmed that in your speech at Pitch 5. Sir, all your observations this year are noted, and we will continue to build on them. Ẹ ṣe gan sir, and thank you for your consistent role every year.

AWORI DAY: ALIMOSHO LG BOSS CHARGES RESIDENTS TO PRESERVE CULTURE AS A SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC ASSET

The Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has urged the people of Alimosho to embrace culture as a vital way of life and a powerful tool for social integration, communal respect, and economic advancement. He made this call during the colourful and elaborate Awori Day celebrations held at the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos, which brought together sons and daughters of Awori heritage from across the globe.

According to him, “It is crucial to give attention to culture so as not to trade away our identities. Culture helps foster social integration among people of the same or diverse backgrounds, giving birth to mutual respect by seeing one another as members of one community. And in an environment where there is harmony, there will be peace, there will be happiness, and rest assured, economic prosperity isn’t far from such an environment.”

He added that the joyful atmosphere at the Awori Day event reflects the true power of culture. “Everyone here today is happy and in a joyful mood—that is the power of culture. A closer look shows people of the same tribe as the Aworis, and others from completely different ethnic groups, all celebrating and identifying with the Awori heritage. That is the unifying spirit of culture.”

He further noted that his administration, guided by the WISE Agenda manifesto, has maintained a commitment to inclusivity and non-discrimination across cultural beliefs, religious affiliations, and ethnic identities. “Soon, you will see how we are planning to transform culture into a revenue-generating asset for our people,” he reassured.

In addition, the Chairman emphasized that cultural festivals such as Awori Day do more than celebrate heritage—they stimulate local commerce, showcase indigenous talents, attract visitors, and strengthen the creative and tourism sectors. He affirmed that Alimosho will continue to support cultural initiatives that build unity while opening doors to new economic opportunities.

“I rejoice and celebrate with the Aworis on this great day,” he concluded.

Alimosho LG, Lagos State PHC Board Intensify Polio Prevention Campaign for Children Aged 0–5

Alimosho Local Government, in collaboration with the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, has stepped up efforts to curb the spread of polio among children between the ages of 2 and 5. The Outbreak Response (OBR) vaccination campaign has become crucial to ensuring that no child suffers disability as a result of the preventable disease.

Leading the exercise, the Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the health and future of young residents.

“Our government is committed to ensuring that every resident feels the impact of governance through adequate healthcare and other essential services,” he said. “Polio can render a child disabled for life if not curbed or if they are not vaccinated. Their future is important to us. Fighting polio is a necessary effort for all three tiers of government, which is why I personally led this campaign.”

He further assured continued backing for frontline health personnel, stating, “We will keep supporting our health workers in every possible way to ensure the well-being of our people. Polio has no cure, but it can be prevented—and that is exactly what we are doing.”

Polio is a highly infectious disease caused by the poliovirus, which attacks the nervous system and can lead to paralysis. It spreads mainly through the fecal–oral route. While many infected individuals show no symptoms or experience only mild illness, some may develop irreversible paralysis or face life-threatening complications. Although there is no cure, polio can be effectively prevented through vaccination, which provides lifelong immunity.

Alimosho LG Empowers 50 Youths With Adire Skills, To Launch ₦3 Million Cooperative Loan for Beneficiaries

The Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment with the successful completion of a three-week Adire attire-making training programme for 50 young residents of the council.

The training, organised by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Alimosho Chapter, was fully sponsored by the local government as part of ongoing efforts to entrench the Chairman’s development blueprint—the WISE Agenda.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony held at the Alimosho Local Government Secretariat Hall, Hon. Akinpelu Johnson announced a ₦3 million loan support fund dedicated to the beneficiaries of the programme. He explained that the fund would enable the graduands to purchase production materials, expand their businesses, and begin earning sustainable income.

He further urged them to form cooperatives to access the loan facility. “Form yourselves into clusters and operate as a cooperative. The council will fund the cooperative with ₦3 million, which you will use among yourselves for material procurement and production. It is a revolving loan. You are our pride,” he said.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the official decoration of the Executive Chairman as the Grand Patron of NYCN, Alimosho Branch, while the Vice Chairman was decorated as Patron of the council chapter of the youth body.

Hon. Akinpelu encouraged the beneficiaries to leverage the growing national demand for Adire fabrics, urging them to focus on producing quality materials and showcasing their works at exhibitions, markets, social gatherings, and other public platforms. He cited his experience during a budget retreat in Abeokuta, where he was captivated by the standard of Adire fabrics on display, reinforcing his belief in the economic potential of the craft for local producers.

Participants showcased vibrant Adire pieces created during the intensive training sessions, demonstrating proficiency across multiple production techniques. Certificates of participation were presented to all graduands—symbolising a new phase of opportunity, creativity, and economic inclusion for Alimosho youth.

Alimosho Youths Present Transformative Leadership Blueprint to LG Chairman

The Community Leadership Trainees have presented a comprehensive blueprint of their programme to the Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, aligning strongly with the Chairman’s visionary WISE Agenda. It will be recalled that in November, the Executive Chairman sponsored 20 youths from the local government area for a leadership training programme focused on community development. In fulfilling his directive, the trainees have now returned with a structured plan detailing actionable steps for driving sustainable growth across Alimosho.

During the presentation, the team expressed gratitude to the Chairman for his unwavering support and for creating an enabling environment where young people can thrive, learn, and contribute meaningfully to governance. They emphasized that the training broadened their understanding of civic responsibility, sharpened their leadership capacity, and equipped them with practical tools needed to solve real community challenges.

The Chairman commended the young leaders for their commitment and swift delivery.
“You really impressed me. After giving you this assignment, you did not waste time in coming up with a well-developed blueprint. Browsing through, I can see that you invested time, energy, and dedication into this within a short period. This shows that Alimosho has a secured future,” he said.

He further assured them of his readiness to examine the document thoroughly.
“I will go through this document and call you back for a proper discussion on the A to Z of what it entails,” he added.

NOA Visits Alimosho Council Boss, Seeks Stronger Grassroots Collaboration

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, to congratulate him on his emergence as the new helmsman of the council and to explore avenues for deeper collaboration in advancing national reorientation initiatives at the grassroots.

Leading the delegation, the Lagos State Director of NOA, Dr. Mustapha Tukur, praised the chairman for his early achievements in office, noting that local government autonomy—when fully entrenched—will further strengthen democratic dividends for citizens.
“Congratulations once again on your victory. We are here to identify areas of partnership. Your first 100 days have been very eventful, and we commend your good work. Our officers need to be effectively accommodated at the grassroots because we take local government engagements seriously. We are ready to partner with you in all possible areas to ensure that Alimosho residents are well informed about their civic responsibilities and what the government owes them,” he said.

In his response, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson applauded the agency for the visit, stressing that familiarization is essential to building healthy institutional relationships.
“This administration has come to change the narrative around governance. As a vital organisation, we will continue to support the NOA. I believe the news should focus more on initiatives like the student loan scheme—I have been sensitizing students to stop begging for tuition fees and instead take advantage of government NELFund opportunities. I also urge your organisation to intensify efforts—especially through local languages—to encourage civic education, including continuous voter registration (CVR). We are open to partnering with you on any programme that will benefit our people,” the chairman stated.

With both institutions expressing strong commitment to collaboration, the visit marks a renewed synergy aimed at strengthening civic awareness and national orientation efforts across Alimosho.

December 1st of greatness to our own Kafata, Prince Idris Balogun!

Indeed, it is only Allah Who crowns, uplifts, and blesses. As you celebrate yet another remarkable birthday today, may the doors of Allah’s rahmah continue to open for you. May His blessings locate you in abundant measures, and may you never lack the grace that distinguishes great men.

Even before your emergence as the Executive Chairman of Egbe-Idimu LCDA, you were known as a philanthropist whose greatest joy is seeing the less privileged smile. Now that you have the privilege to lead these same people, I'm confident that you will continue to do even more—touching lives, building communities, and advancing the welfare of all. As you mark your birthday today, may you continue to grow in wisdom, strength, and a fulfilling life.

You have shown that true governance is not about occupying a position but about adding value to humanity. May Allah continue to guide your steps and grant you the clarity needed to fulfil your mandate with excellence.

As this new chapter unfolds, may every day usher you into new victories. May your name continue to be associated with progress, development, and impactful service. And as you rise, may everyone connected to you rise with ease and divine favour.

Yours truly,
Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson,
The Executive Chairman,
