ÌSARÀ RÉMO: CITY SET ON A HILL
By Saheed ‘Lanre Fidelity
We marvel at the ancient architectural wonders that attract tourists the world over. Victories and failures, hopes and surprises, our traditions and heritage make history ever-changing. Yet, history itself remains the same.
There’s a special vibe about our hometown, Isara Remo. It's a city without pretence, a people full of grace and strength.
Isara is a memorable place for all of us; the very soil where many of us were born, nurtured, and shaped into who we are today.
Today, our beloved Isara stands at a critical point in its history. Conversations, disagreements, and emotions have risen, especially around our traditional stool. But in all these, one truth remains unshaken, Isara comes first.
We are a great people; we love Isara deeply. Even when the road seems rough or the times uncertain, our love for our home must never fade. Long before us, there was Isara. While we are here, there is Isara. When we are gone, Isara will remain strong, proud, and united.
No matter how critical it gets, I will always believe in Isara, the land our forebears laboured to preserve, the land that gives us identity and belonging. Because of their sacrifices, we have a place to call home today.
As a community loved by its own indigenous people, if we allow grudges and misunderstandings to grip our hearts for long, that community would suffer for it, development may be stagnant thus, paving the way for smaller neighbouring communities to pass us by. The majority of what is causing the rift in our hometown are external forces from the Remo communities, they want to divide us to rule over Isara from their hometown just because of their selfish interest, we are yet to wake up from our slumber.
I hope it won't be too late before our leaders and elders realise that what we are losing as a community is more than what we gain in isolation. If we love Isara, we would realise that love wins it all.
Let’s remember: Isara is the second largest town in Remoland, next to Sagamu. While Sagamu is made up of over 13 towns, Isara stands as one, a single great community under the leadership of the Odemo of Isara. That unity is our strength; that pride is our heritage.
Let’s not allow temporary differences to divide an eternal bond.
Leaders may come and go, leadership may change, but Isara remains. Our love for our hometown must rise above every sentiment or division.
Isara is a city to be proud of, a home rich in culture, wisdom, and courage.
A hometown is not just a location; it’s where our stories begin and where our hearts always return.
There may be many cities to visit in a lifetime, but there’s only one that holds our soul, Isara.
> Isara is Ours. Isara is Home. City set on a hill, let's not continue to hide its glory🙏
God bless Isara Remo,
