The Miss Dakkada Beauty Pageant MDBP2021 is a platform to raise beauty queens who will champion social advocacy, women emancipation and groom young leaders and will also empower contestants by equipping them with business skills using proven business model.

The pageant would also celebrates strong, committed young women who are willing to represent the community as a goodwill ambassador, becoming a role model
of today while strengthening our community for tomorrow and also help to bring out the best in young women by building their self-confidence, personal development and increase their drive for success.

The entry for the first edition has opened for healthy, intelligent, and decent Akwa Ibom girls from 18 to 28 years who will contest for the prestigious crown.

Honourable Deputy Speaker of Akwa Ibom State, Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey and State Chairperson League of Women Voters on Monday said that the Honourable Speaker of the 7th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Governors give Secondus soft landing, pacify Wike

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors stayed a middle course yesterday in a bid to save the party from disintegration.

The main opposition party has been engulfed in a leadership crisis.

The governors saved embattled National Chairman Uche Secondus from humiliation and a disgrace out office.

They also pacified Nyesom Wike, the influential Rivers State governor, who is the arrow head of those asking Secondus to be removed from office.

The governors decided at their meeting, attended by 11 of the 13 members – including Wike – in Abuja, that the party’s convention staturily due in December, should hold latest end of October.

The convention will elect ne leadership for the party.

Secondus and members of his outgoing National Working Committee (NWC) are to be precluded from seeking re-election.

The decision was supported by the party’s elders.

Secondus had been under fire to quit after being accused of inept leadership.

Nine deputies in the NWC resigned last week.

Women constitute more than fifty percent (50%) of the total population in every society, yet events appear to have moved to a pedestal that can no longer be accepted by the female sex success, it is accepted, should be achieved through hard work and competition, but the society has made it impossible for women to compete favourably with men.

Although women participation in political activities, though, it is still difficult to find a situation where females are nominated during elections for higher positions in government. This has continued to happen because party chairmen is a man and the men hold other important positions in the party.

Although women play vital role in campaigning and mobilizing support for the individual parties, it is rare to find them where power belongs. Where women are to be relegated at the back, religion, tradition and beliefs are brought into solidify the society’s ground for treating women as “second” class citizens.

Inspite of many female activist that have been fighting for women’s rights, it is still impossible for the women to acquire up to five percent (5%) position in policy making institution in Akwa Ibom State.

It is on record that women fight poverty here in Akwa Ibom State. The establishment of many cottage industries such as cassava frying industry, soap making industry, pottery industry, fish smoking industries and others, can testify to the policy initiatives of women in the state. Women in Akwa Ibom State are good at mobilization and formation of co-operative societies and these are run effectively.
