"There Is Nothing That Will Make Me Steal
" – My Integrity Promise to the People of Oyo
____ Barrister Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Sh*ttu

“There is nothing that will make me steal, and I will not allow anyone to steal under my administration.”

These are not just words—they are the foundation of my entire public life. I have served in government at various levels, including as a State Commissioner and a Federal Minister, and my record remains unblemished by any accusation of corruption. That is not by luck—it is by principle, by discipline, and by faith.

I believe public office is a sacred trust. I was not raised to take what is not mine, and I did not join politics to enrich myself. I joined to serve. To build. To lead with conscience and compassion. True wealth lies in legacy—not looting. And if I am elected Governor of Oyo State, I will lead with a firm hand on integrity.

We’ve all seen the destruction corruption brings: unfinished roads, abandoned schools, broken hospitals, and unpaid workers. That cycle must stop. Under my leadership:

Every kobo of Oyo’s money will serve the people of Oyo.

No official will be untouchable—no matter their title or connections.

Citizens will be able to track how funds are spent—and feel the results.

Development will be transparent, inclusive, and people-first.

This is not just a political stance. It is a personal vow.

_*Why I’m Running: Inspired to Serve, Prepared to Lead*_

My story began in Saki, as a young student listening to Chief Obafemi Awolowo speak about political leadership. That day, I was the only youth present, and his words hit me deeply, especially when he lamented that Saki had yet to produce a top-level political figure.

I took that as a personal challenge.

Shortly after, I traveled to Awolowo’s Lagos home. He welcomed me, saw my sincerity, and appointed me to the UPN Committee of Friends. He also linked me with student political leaders at Obafemi Awolowo University, where I played a key role in policy drafting for the Unity Party of Nigeria.

At just 26, I became the youngest member of the old Oyo State House of Assembly, where I was known for my bold debates, even swaying Governor Bola Ige on major legislation.

My Impact So Far: Development You Can See and Feel
Throughout my public life, I have focused on results, not noise. I have led with my head and heart, and the results are clear:

Saki Water Works: I secured federal approval for its rehabilitation and expansion.
Saki 2×60 MVA Substation: I facilitated the project to solve persistent power outages across Oke-Ogun.
Ikere George Dam Reactivation (Iseyin): I helped revive it to support irrigation farming and enable local power generation.
In Water Access, I Delivered:

Six boreholes across the Ibadan land

Three boreholes in Ogbomoso (Orire, Ogo Oluwa, and Surulere LGAs)

Four boreholes in Oyo Federal Constituency (Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East, and Oyo West)

Three boreholes in Iseyin.

These are not plans or promises—they are projects I personally championed.

My 2027 Vision: A New Dawn for Oyo State
I am not running to occupy the governor's seat—I am running to serve the people, transform lives, and leave a legacy of trust and prosperity. Here’s what I plan to do:

Free, quality education to university level, including mandatory entrepreneurial training for all students.
Universal basic healthcare with digital records, smart clinics, and zero tolerance for medical neglect.
Youth and women's enterprise grants—especially in agriculture—with access to land, funding, and tools.
Statewide digital connectivity powered by solar Wi-Fi and smart governance infrastructure. Zero corruption, total transparency, and participatory budgeting to keep governance in the hands of the people.

Why You Can Trust Me
I have served as:

Legislator (Youngest Assembly member in Oyo’s history)

Commissioner for Information and Attorney-General

Minister of Communications (transformed Nigeria’s digital economy)

I have never been accused of corruption. Never abused my office. Never taken advantage of public trust.

My Final Word to the People of Oyo
“I answered Chief Awolowo’s call—not just to lead, but to serve.
Now, I’m answering your call—to finish the work, and to build a state where opportunity is not a privilege, but a right.”

“Leadership is not about origin but vision, integrity, and results.”____Barrister Akeem Agbaje

The gubernatorial seat in Oyo State is far more than a political title; it is a sacred trust. It demands not only the ability to lead, but also the courage to serve selflessly, the wisdom to unite people across divides, and the integrity to protect the public good. The ideal governor must deeply understand the complex challenges across the state and have both the character and competence to bring about meaningful, lasting development.

Barrister Akeem Agbaje stands out as a leader of substance, principled, courageous, and deeply committed to justice, equity, and good governance. Over the years, he has proven himself as a man who leads with purpose, speaks with conviction, and acts with compassion. With his strong legal background, decades of public engagement, and keen understanding of Oyo State’s socio-economic terrain, Barrister Agbaje is well-positioned to make people-centered decisions that will uplift all zones of the state.

“Every local government in Oyo State holds untapped potential — what we need is a leader who sees development as a right, not a privilege.”

As someone from Iseyin in Oke Ogun who has lived most of his life in Ibadan, I can boldly say: what truly matters in leadership is not where you come from, but what you bring to the table. Oyo State deserves a governor whose priority is not region, tribe, or party loyalty, but progress for all. From Ibadan to Oyo, Ogbomoso to Oke Ogun, and Ibarapa to every remote ward, Barrister Akeem Agbaje has shown the leadership qualities we need: fairness, competence, and a deep desire to develop every part of this state.

Since 1996, I’ve traversed every corner of Oyo State — I’ve seen communities in need, roads in disrepair, clinics without doctors, schools lacking teachers, and hardworking youth without access to opportunities. But I’ve also seen potential — and I know that with the right leadership, that potential can become prosperity.

Barrister Akeem Agbaje understands this. His plans are not mere promises — they are rooted in experience and shaped by compassion. He envisions an Oyo State with:

Accessible and durable roads linking rural and urban communities

Functional healthcare centers in every local government

Potable water through sustainable water projects

Well-equipped schools with a focus on quality education

Youth empowerment programs in entrepreneurship, tech, and agriculture

Improved security architecture to safeguard lives and property

“True leadership is not about where you come from, but about how far you’re willing to go to transform the lives of those you serve.”
— Barrister Akeem Agbaje

Agitation for Power Shift in Oyo State – A Call for Equity and Inclusion

The recent interview by Senator AbdulFatai Buhari sparked controversy over inaccurate electoral statistics he provided regarding Oyo State's voting population. His figures, which wrongly totalled 101%, conflict with INEC’s verified data from the 2023 gubernatorial election and raise concerns about whether this was an honest mistake or a deliberate attempt to weaken the advocacy for power rotation.

INEC Data vs. Senator Buhari’s Claims:

INEC data confirms that Oke-Ogun has a strong voter turnout (46.7%) and holds the second-highest number of local government areas (10), yet it has never produced a governor—unlike Ibadan (11 LGAs) and Ogbomoso (which produced Governor Akala between 2007 and 2011).

Senator Buhari’s call for zoning based on the senatorial district, rather than by geopolitical region, is seen as a strategy to dilute Oke-Ogun’s legitimate claim by lumping it with Ogbomoso—a region culturally and historically distinct.

The Core Issues:

Senator Buhari, after 12 years in office backed by Oke-Ogun voters, is not championing their gubernatorial aspirations.

His comments suggest Oke-Ogun should wait to see who Ibadan presents as a candidate before acting, which many view as disrespectful and disempowering.

The agitation for power shift is rooted in the need for justice, equity, and balanced representation across all regions of the state.

Conclusion:

The push for an Oke-Ogun Governor in 2027 is not just a regional demand—it represents a broader call for fairness across marginalized areas in Oyo State. Senator Buhari’s stance, seen as dismissive and self-serving, should prompt unity among Oke-Ogun people to pursue this cause without compromise.

*Class of 1977 Alumni Donates Exercise Books, Urges Urgent Action to Revive Iseyin-Koso Baptist Basic School*
_________________

On May 10, 2025, the Class of 1977 Old Students’ Association of Iseyin-Koso Baptist Basic School in Iseyin Local Government Area, Oyo State, made a heartfelt appeal to government authorities and fellow alumni to urgently address the alarming state of their alma mater. The call was made during a formal donation of customized exercise books to the school’s pupils on Friday, May 9.

Engr. Kolawole Bello, President of the 1977 set, highlighted the school’s deteriorating condition, describing it as deplorable and in need of immediate revitalization. He urged both the government and former students to work together in a coordinated effort to restore the school.

The event, held on the school grounds, featured the official handover of the branded exercise books and the presentation of appreciation gifts to notable guests.

Among the dignitaries present were the Chairman of Iseyin Local Government, Hon. Rasaq Fadiran (represented by the Leader of the House, Hon. Saminu Kehinde), the Political Head of Iseyin South LCDA, Hon. Solomon Oladipupo, and the Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Ajekiigbe Abigail. All commended the 1977 set for their generosity and echoed the need for collective action to improve the learning environment for current students.

Legacy in Action – The 1977 Set Old Students Association of Baptist Day School, Koso, Iseyin is at it again!
____________
In yet another remarkable show of commitment to education and community development, the 1977 Set is set to elevate its “Give Back Project” by distributing branded notebooks to every student of the school. This noble gesture is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 9th, 2025, at the school premises, and it follows their impactful contribution last year, which saw the successful commissioning of a deep well to provide clean water for the school.

During that previous event, the President of the Association, Engr. Kolawole Bello, passionately emphasized the association’s unwavering dedication to enhancing the quality of education in their alma mater. He lamented the current deplorable learning conditions and assured that the 1977 Set would not stand aloof while the future of young learners is compromised.

His words were not just rhetoric—they were a solemn pledge. And with this upcoming notebook distribution initiative, that promise is once again being fulfilled. It is truly “a promise made, and a promise being kept.”

This inspiring project is expected to serve as a clarion call to other sets and stakeholders to rise to the occasion and invest in the future of our children.

Long live Baptist Day School Koso!
Long live the 1977 Set – the true trailblazers!
