Senate President Godswill Akpabio has postponed deliberation on Senator Ali Ndume’s motion to next Tuesday, when the Senate will hold a closed-door session to address the U.S. Senate’s allegations of a Christian genocide in Nigeria and agree on an official response.

"Some people must have gone to the US and presented a one-sided story, making it seem like only Christians have been killed by terrorists in Nigeria. I can tell you that many Muslims have also lost their lives over the past 10 years, just as Christians have." He said

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun received a delegation from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), led by its President, Afam Josiah Osigwe, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The meeting focused on the enforcement of the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 1991, and highlighted the need for stronger cooperation between the Police and the legal community to uphold the rule of law and public trust.

Following the discussion, the Nigeria Police Force announced a temporary suspension of the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Act, pending the outcome of a court hearing scheduled for October 16, 2025, at the Federal High Court in Warri. The decision, according to the Force, reflects its respect for the NBA and consideration for public interest.

To strengthen relations, both institutions have formed a joint Police-NBA committee to promote collaboration and mutual understanding. The IGP urged motorists to use the suspension period to regularize their vehicle documentation and comply with all relevant laws, reaffirming the Police’s commitment to fair and transparent law enforcement.
