Pastor Stephen Remanded At Iyanganku Prison

Following the ugly incident that took place at Iseyin in Oyo State, where a Muslim family and a pregnant woman were beaten and molested, the pastor involved, Pastor Stephen Busari has now been remanded at Iyanganku prison in Ibadan by the Oyo State Government.

Taawun Human Rights Initiative under Barrister Sulayman Tadese has now petitioned the Nigerian military over the pastor's son who was a culprit in the incident that took place on Eid-Adha Sunday, 9th June 2023.

This morning the pastor will be taken back to Iseyin from Iyanganku Prison for more investigations.

NELFUND Announces 14-Day Postponement of State Owned Institutions’ Application for Student Loan

June 25, 2024

The Management of Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) hereby announce a 14 day postponement of the application process for student loan for state institutions due to low data submissions.

This decision was necessitated by the failure of several state owned institutions to upload the required student data and fees information to the NELFUND Student Verification System (SVS).

To date, only a limited number of state owned institutions have successfully completed the data submission process. These include 20 state universities out of 48, 12 state colleges out of 54 and 2 state polytechnics out of 49.

While we acknowledge the efforts of these institutions, the failure to submit data from the remaining state institutions poses significant challenges to ensuring a seamless and accurate verification process for student loan applicants.

The application window, initially set to open on June 25, 2024, will now commence on July 10, 2024.

This extension will provide additional time for state institutions to comply with the data submission requirements and ensure their students can benefit from the Federal Government student loan scheme.

To facilitate an efficient and error-free application process, it is crucial that all state institutions provide complete and accurate information.

This includes JAMB numbers, matriculation numbers, admission numbers, full names, level, faculties, departments, duration of program, fees and gender of all eligible students.

Incomplete or incorrect data submissions will result in application delays and potential disqualification for affected students.

The fund urges all state institutions to expedite their data submission processes and ensure the accuracy of the information provided.

Institutions that fail to meet the revised deadline risk disadvantaging their students, who depend on these loans to support their education.

The fund appreciates cooperation of institutions that have already completed their submissions and encourage others to follow suit promptly.

What transpired between an Alfa and a Pastor at Iseyin Oyo state,Nigeria.
On Eidul Adha day which coincides with Sunday 16, 2024 . The Alfa got back from the praying ground and proceeded to slaughter his ram on a path which he created, he was confronted by his neighbor who is a Pastor as to why he's slaughtering ram on the path, the Alfa responded that it's a portion of his compound that he just decided not to fence so as to avail neighbors who stayed behind him a passage and he decides to slaughter his ram there it's his business . The pastor became Mad at the response and called his child who was a soldier recruit and he came to the venue with accomplices and they started thrashing the Alfa , then the Alfa swung into self-defense but was no match, during the fight reinforcement came for the soldiers and they are over 20 at The period, they thrashed the Alfa and beat his Elehas , broke one's leg at the course of trying to drag her into the church so as to create an alibi that she came to confront them in the church premises , one of those that came to support Alfa to help him in skinning and And dismembering the ram slaughtered saw the gory situation and started filming with his phone , his phone was seized and his palms were lacerated with a knife ... People came to the rescue and the situation escalated and the police came to the rescue. Now the CAN president (Iseyin I assume) is running Helter skelter so that the issue isn't pursued in the court of law , he's gone to plead with the chief Imam of Iseyin according to reports and the even the police they reported to are pleading on their behalves because they are Christians obviously.

Note. This same CAN president has instigated that Hijab isn't worn by Muslim girls in the Community secondary school before the issue was pushed to Oyo the state headquarters and the Muslims triumphed , This same CAN president instigated that the School's mosque isn't completed.

Just one of the soldiers is a comissioned soldier and d rest are fake This is a clear case of intolerance by the Christians of Iseyin towards its Muslims. We urge the government particularly state government to bring the culprits

Nigerians to start using three-in-one ID card August, says official

In two months, Nigerians will begin utilising the services of the proposed three-in-one identity card, the National Identity Management Commission has confirmed.

It said the single multipurpose card combining multiple functions of identity, financial and social services will be made available to citizens across the country by August this year.

A high-ranking member of the implementation team, who asked not to be named, disclosed the new information during an exclusive interview with Saturday PUNCH on Friday.

The official stated that the commission had been working tirelessly to meet its goals, adding that the plan remains on track and would be launched in the upcoming months.

He also disclosed that the commission has begun the testing and deployment stage.

The official said, “We actually plan for July although there have been a few delays but we are still hopeful that it would come in July. So we are hoping to get it done between July and August. We are still on plan and if there is any shift, the public will know.”

The official added, “When you are deploying a new technology, there is a lot of work to be done, you need to configure the card, enable the outlet, and enable the wallet to work. We also have to do tests and that is what is ongoing.

“The deployment is ongoing, the portal that people need to access the service has to be deployed, and we have to make sure that it is scaleable and those are the ongoing works.

“There are integrations that all the banks need to do to enable the card and all of those little details are ongoing. We have that target and we are working extra hard to make sure that we achieve that.”

On Friday, April 5, 2024, the NIMC announced that it had launched a new card layered with payment capabilities and social service features in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigeria Inter-bank Settlement System.

It explained that the identity solution was equipped with payment capability for all types of social and financial services.

According to a statement issued, the initiative represents a collaborative effort to offer increased options for domestic consumers while fostering the delivery of services in a more innovative, cost-effective, and competitive manner.

The identity cards will include a bank-enabled National ID card, a social intervention card, and an optional ECOWAS National Biometric Identity Card.
