When my husband and I have one of those couple fights, I can be so upset, I’m talking very angry like no be this man I profess love to everyday?
But moments later, when the dust finally settles, we somehow find ourselves laughing about it and making jokes again.
It made me realize something, at that very moment when I was angry, the anger was only a facade. And like every facade, eventually, the real feelings announce themselves again.
Fights are normal.
Disagreements are normal too.
After all, we are two different people trying to build one life together. We may disagree, but the goal should always be to find our way back to understanding.
“Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?”
Funny enough, my Husband and I have shared almost the same experiences University, NYSC, and even Work in the same department yet we come from different backgrounds and cultures. We have different perspectives, different preferences, and sometimes, completely different ways of seeing things.
So, disagreements are inevitable.
But I’ve come to realize that disagreements also reveal us to each other.
They reveal our likes and dislikes.
Our views and preferences.
Our strengths and weaknesses.
Even our limitations.
And sometimes, those moments teach you things about your partner that you may never discover when everything is going smoothly.
So, if you ask me, how is married life? ...
I would say Marriage is really beautiful.
One moment, you’re upset with your partner.
The next moment, you’re laughing together.
One moment, you’re wondering, “Why is this man like this?” 😂
The next moment, you’re looking at him thinking, “This is my person.” ❤️
Marriage is one of the places where your most vulnerable self comes out.
You learn to communicate.
You learn to forgive.
You learn to adjust.
You learn to love beyond feelings.
And most importantly, you learn that every disagreement doesn’t have to become a war.
Sometimes, the person you’re angry with is still the person you love deeply.
Pray, don’t panic.
P.S. Guess who I talk to when I am angry with my Husband? Lol, My Husband
