Former Vice President Yemi Osibanjo Hail Maryam Bukar (Alhanislam) For Bagging UN Recognition
He wrote:
There are voices that fill a room. And there are voices that shift the room entirely.
Maryam’s voice has always been the latter. Calm, lyrical, steady. But it does not knock. It enters with purpose. It calls nations to conscience. It sits with presidents and peasants alike and speaks peace in their language.
On Friday, the United Nations affirmed what we have long known in Nigeria.
That greatness does not need to shout. It speaks, and the world leans in.
So yes,
Greatness is Nigerian
And more precisely,
Greatness is Maryam
She is the poet who turned pain into petition. The daughter of the North whose words cross oceans without a visa.
She does not just perform poetry. She embodies the possibility of it.
Her pen never forgets the girl child. Her presence never forgets her roots.
Even the UN had no choice but to hand her the mic and wisely not take it back.
Congratulations Alhanislam.
You remind us all that peace is not the absence of struggle.
It is the courage to speak when the world stops listening.
And you
You never stopped speaking.
