IPOB Challenges Its Proscription By FG

The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has told a Court of Appeal that the memo written by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami to President Muhammadu Buhari, which was used by the Federal High Court to proscribe and declare it a terrorist organisation, was signed by the late Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.

According to the pro-Biafra group, the signing of the memo by Abba Kyari and not Buhari contravened the clear provisions of the Terrorist Prevention Act.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has thrown another bombshell when he publicly endorsed Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu instead of Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor.

Wike who was in Lagos declared support candidate of the All Progressives Congress against the candidate of political party, the Peoples Democratic Party.

Buhari presents N20.5trn 2023 budget to NASS

President Muhammadu Buhari has presented a budget of 20.5 trillion naira for the 2023 fiscal year.

Buhari presented the budget to a joint session of the National Assembly on Friday.

Addressing the lawmakers, the President, who described the 2023 appropriation as a budget of “fiscal sustainability and transition”, said the budget “reflects the serious challenges currently facing our country, key reforms necessary to address them.”

JAMB sets new guidelines for UTME, other operations

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, via its weekly bulletin released on Monday, said it has come out with new guidelines to ensure seamless conduct of future operational processes, including the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

It added the development was released in a communique issued at the end of a five-day retreat for management staff held from September 19 to September 23 in Abuja.

Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar has appointed former Senate Presidents, Dr. Bukola Saraki as Special Envoy to the presidential candidate and Senator Pius Anyim, as Special Adviser.

Also appointed as Special Advisers were Ibrahim Shekarau, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former governors of Kano and Osun respectively as well as Senator Ehigie Uzamere.

Former PDP national, chairman Uche Secondus was also appointed as Technical Adviser.

Again, Nigeria’s Debt Profile Soars

Debt Management Office said Nigeria’s total public debt stock, which was 41.60 trillion naira in March rose to 42.84 trillion naira by June.
According to a statement obtained from DMO’s website on Tuesday, the total debt represents the domestic and external debt stocks of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the 36 State Governments and the Federal Capital Territory.
Local component of borrowings was 24.98 trillion naira as of March 30.

Documents from University of Uyo, revealed that governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom, Umo Eno, lied to court about his West African Examination Council results and date of birth.

Eno was dragged to court by Akan Okon, a contestant in the May 25 PDP governorship primary election, over allegations that he (Eno) is parading a forged WAEC certificate in his bid to actualize his governorship ambition.

I Regret Endorsing Buhari in 2015 – Obasanjo

Former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has expressed regrets for endorsing Muhammadu Buhari's bid for the presidency in 2015.

Obasanjo revealed this in a conversation he had on a plane with blogger Ifedayo Agoro.
