NANS LAUNCHES NANSINNOVATE 2026 FUNDING PROGRAMME FOR NIGERIAN TERTIARY STUDENT ENTREPRENEURS

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has opened applications for NANSInnovate 2026, a national business funding programme designed to support tertiary students who operate existing enterprises or have viable commercial proposals. The non-equity initiative is open to eligible Nigerian undergraduates and Higher National Diploma candidates enrolled in accredited universities, polytechnics and colleges of education across the country.
The programme, organised under the leadership of Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, will feature a one-week virtual and hybrid curriculum covering mentorship, enterprise development and strategic networking. The programme is scheduled to culminate in a national pitch event at which 20 shortlisted student entrepreneurs will present their proposals before a panel comprising venture capital managers, corporate leaders and industry specialists for potential funding and operational support.
Applicants are required to be Nigerian citizens with valid student identification and must submit a business proposal of not more than 10 pages in Microsoft Word format, in accordance with the programme's specified formatting requirements. Eligible ventures fall within four sectors: agriculture; services; trading and merchandise; and production and manufacturing. NANS has also introduced an application-tracking code system and warned applicants against paying processing or registration fees to unauthorised third-party agents, reinforcing the programme's stated free-of-charge status.
The initiative comes amid broader efforts to expand access to finance, digital tools and productive opportunities for young Nigerians, including federal interventions aimed at improving access to laptops, internet connectivity and other knowledge devices. While NANSInnovate provides a structured platform for student entrepreneurs to compete for funding and mentorship, its measurable impact will depend on transparent selection procedures, clearly disclosed funding terms, effective monitoring of disbursements and sustained support beyond the final pitching stage.
