NE Governors Commit N1.8bn to UNIMAID Endowment as Fintiri Leads Presentation

In a significant boost to tertiary education in the region, the Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has announced a donation of N1.8 billion to the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) Endowment Fund on behalf of the Northeast Governors’ Forum (NEGF).

The announcement was made during the grand finale of the University’s 25th Combined Convocation Ceremony and Golden Jubilee (50th Anniversary) celebration held in Maiduguri.

Dr. Indimi donated N2B, Chief Emeka Ofor N250m, members of northeast national assembly N200m.

Adamawa Deputy Governor Commissions Five New Vehicles At Federal University Of Wukari

Adamawa state Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has commissioned five new vehicles to ease movement of management, staff and students of Federal University Wukari Taraba state.

Farauta who represented Governor Ahmadu Fintiri who was invited as Special Guest at the occasion, said the vehicles inaugurated is part of the 8th and 9th convocation ceremony of the institution to hold on saturday.

She lauded the efforts of management of the university, for procurement of the vehicles, which she said is testament to good leadership in the institution.

Farauta who a former Vice Chancellor Adamawa state University (ADSU), Mubi, expressed optimism in the judicious use of the vehicles for the purpose intended.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Jude Sammani Rabo said the vehicles were purchased with 2024 grant.

Earlier, the Guest Lecturer at the Convocation, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, National chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) in his paper Technology as an Enabler of Humanitarian Support and Inclusive Empowerment and Development announced a grant of N20 million for research on humanitarian development. # #

Adamawa Government Approves N8.8bn for Education, Security, Other Projects

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved over N8.8 billion for major development projects aimed at improving education, security, and environmental services across the state.

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved over N8.8 billion for major development projects aimed at improving education, security, and environmental services across the state.

The approvals, taken at the 24th Executive Council Meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, are expected to enhance learning, strengthen security, and boost service delivery for citizens.

Briefing journalists shortly after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, said the approved projects cut across critical sectors that directly impact the lives of residents.

A major highlight is the upgrade of the Mega Science Secondary School in Gulak into a full-fledged College of Technological and Innovation Entrepreneurship Studies. The council approved N4.66 billion for ten civil works to be executed by ten contractors within four months.

In the education sector, the council approved N285.4 million for the construction of an additional electromechanical workshop at Lamurde Mega Science Secondary School. Another workshop under Lot B was approved at N221.9 million, both with a completion period of four months.

The council also approved N449.1 million for the construction of additional perimeter fencing at the same school in Lamurde.

To further support environmental sanitation efforts in Yola, the council approved N264.1 million for the purchase of two Eurodome tipper trucks, expected to be delivered within 14 days.

In the security sector, the council approved N1.63 billion for the renovation of staff quarters at the Mubi Army Barracks, a project to be handled by 12 contractors.

Governor Fintiri urges Igbo community to remain united for Adamawa’s progress

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has tasked the Igbo community to remain one in unity for the development of Adamawa State and the Country at large.

The Governor gave the task when the Igbo community led by Eze Ndigbo, Chief Godwin Omenaka, the third paid him a courtesy visit at the Banquet Hall Government House Yola.

Governor Fintiri urged them to feel at home in the State as he pledged to build the Adamawa State that would stand United.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri also granted their request for land allocation, pledging to review appointments of Igbo people in his government in order to accommodate more.

In his remarks, the Eze Ndi Igbo, Chief Igwe Godwin Omenaka, the third thanked the Governor for always supporting igbo cultural activities and promised to remain supportive of his administration.

In his speech, the President General igbo cultural association, igbo cultural association Chief Emmanuel Nwabueze Aneke said the igbo community were on a courtesy visit to express gratitude to the governor for his unwavering commitment to the development of the state, attesting that the governor’s efforts have brought significant improvement in the lives of the citizens of the state.

While appealing to the governor for political appointments and employment for the igbo community in the state, the president General equally reminded the governor of land allocation earlier to the association for the purpose of building skill acquisition and Entrepreneurship Centre which he said will contribute to the development of the state.

ADAMAWA PDP HOLDS LOCAL GOVERNMENT CONGRESSES, AS WINNERS EMERGE THROUGH CONSENSUS

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State on Saturday conducted its local government congresses across the 21 councils, with executives emerging largely through consensus.

The Congress Committee, chaired by Hon. David Iorhemba, former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, alongside the PDP Organising Secretary, Alhaji Hamza Bello Madagali, visited Yola South, Yola North, and Girei Local Government Areas to monitor the exercise.

Addressing journalists in Yola after the exercise, Hon. Iorhemba expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the congresses, noting that party members across the state displayed maturity, orderliness, and cooperation in ensuring a rancor-free process. He commended stakeholders and members for embracing consensus in line with the PDP’s democratic spirit.

The Committee Chairman also praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his exemplary leadership and role in uniting the party, stressing that his style of governance has strengthened the PDP at both the state and grassroots levels.

Meanwhile, the Appeal Committee is expected to commence sittings on Sunday to receive and hear any petitions arising from the local government congresses.

Attention is now shifting to the forthcoming State Congress scheduled for next Saturday. Party leaders have expressed optimism that, just like the ward and local government levels, the state congress will also be smooth, transparent, and reflective of the PDP’s commitment to internal democracy.

With the successful completion of ward and local government congresses, the PDP in Adamawa is consolidating its structures ahead of the 2027 general elections, positioning itself as a formidable force with a united front at the grassroots.

Adamawa Muslim Council Visits Gov. Fintiri, Passes Vote of Confidence.

FORUM OF SSAs ON MEDIA & CONTENT CREATION PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO NYAMPA

The Forum of Senior Special Assistants on Media and Content Creation to the Governor of Adamawa State has paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Nyampa Dauda Zakaria, Member representing Madagali/Michika Federal Constituency, at his residence in Dougire. The delegation was led by the Forum’s Chairman, Hon. Ijabani Ijahu.

In his remarks, Hon. Ijabani expressed the Forum’s appreciation to Hon. Nyampa for his continuous support to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the administration of His Excellency, Governor Fintiri. He further congratulates him for emerging as the number one performing federal lawmaker from Adamawa State, according to a recent independent assessment by ERGAF-Africa. He noted that Hon. ‎Jimeta Shopping Mall Takes Shape: 60% Complete and Counting

‎The construction of the ultra-modern Jimeta Shopping Mall is moving full steam ahead, with about 60% of the work already completed. The project, commissioned by the Adamawa State Government through the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, and Industries, is being supervised by Hon. Dr. Ishaya John Dabari as Commissioner.

‎Major progress has been made on both the main mall structures and the surrounding facilities, bringing the vision of a world-class shopping experience closer to reality.

FG Unveils New Curriculum for Primary, Secondary, and Technical Schools in Nigeria

The Federal Government has announced the completion of a comprehensive review of the national curriculum for basic, senior secondary, and technical education.

The new framework is designed to reduce content overload, improve learning outcomes, and ensure Nigerian students are equipped with skills relevant to today’s global demands.

According to a press statement signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director, Press and Public Relations of the Federal Ministry of Education. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa CON, by the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad.

Professor Ahmad explained that the review was carried out in collaboration with key agencies, including the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Details of the revised curriculum
According to Professor Ahmad, the curriculum adjustment is not only about streamlining the number of subjects but also enhancing the quality of learning materials

Primary 1–3 pupils will now take between 9 and 10 subjects.
Primary 4–6 pupils will be required to take 10 to 12 subjects.
Junior Secondary School students will take 12 to 14 subjects.
Senior Secondary School students will take 8 to 9 subjects.
Technical school students will take 9 to 11 subjects.
