ADAMAWA PDP HOLDS LOCAL GOVERNMENT CONGRESSES, AS WINNERS EMERGE THROUGH CONSENSUS
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State on Saturday conducted its local government congresses across the 21 councils, with executives emerging largely through consensus.
The Congress Committee, chaired by Hon. David Iorhemba, former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, alongside the PDP Organising Secretary, Alhaji Hamza Bello Madagali, visited Yola South, Yola North, and Girei Local Government Areas to monitor the exercise.
Addressing journalists in Yola after the exercise, Hon. Iorhemba expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the congresses, noting that party members across the state displayed maturity, orderliness, and cooperation in ensuring a rancor-free process. He commended stakeholders and members for embracing consensus in line with the PDP’s democratic spirit.
The Committee Chairman also praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his exemplary leadership and role in uniting the party, stressing that his style of governance has strengthened the PDP at both the state and grassroots levels.
Meanwhile, the Appeal Committee is expected to commence sittings on Sunday to receive and hear any petitions arising from the local government congresses.
Attention is now shifting to the forthcoming State Congress scheduled for next Saturday. Party leaders have expressed optimism that, just like the ward and local government levels, the state congress will also be smooth, transparent, and reflective of the PDP’s commitment to internal democracy.
With the successful completion of ward and local government congresses, the PDP in Adamawa is consolidating its structures ahead of the 2027 general elections, positioning itself as a formidable force with a united front at the grassroots.
