Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has disclosed that no fewer than five governors elected on the platform of the All-Progressives Congress have reached out to him following his resignation from the African Democratic Congress.

Lawal disclosed this in an interview with Newsmen, days after dumping the ADC over allegations that the party’s recent presidential primary was manipulated in favour of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

ADC, Omar Suleiman Dismiss Step-Down Rumours, Reaffirm Governorship Ambition

The Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the campaign organisation of its governorship candidate, Ambassador Omar Suleiman, have dismissed reports suggesting that the former ambassador is considering stepping down from the 2027 gubernatorial race.

In a statement issued in Yola on Friday, the party described the reports as false, malicious, and the handiwork of political opponents allegedly unsettled by the growing support for the ADC candidate across the state.

The ADC maintained that Ambassador Suleiman remains the party's duly elected and recognised governorship candidate, having emerged victorious in the party's primary election with an overwhelming majority of votes.

According to the statement, the campaign has continued extensive grassroots mobilisation across the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State, strengthening its structures and consolidating support among key stakeholders.

The party further noted that Ambassador Suleiman, a former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority and Nigeria's immediate past Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, remains committed to offering what it described as a credible and visionary alternative leadership for Adamawa.

The ADC leadership and the Suleiman Campaign Organisation assured supporters that the campaign remains united, focused, and stronger than ever, urging party members and the public to disregard the rumours.

The statement reaffirmed that Ambassador Suleiman remains firmly in the race and is determined to pursue his vision of good governance, sustainable development, and economic prosperity for the people of Adamawa State.

Gengle Development Area Sole Administrator Assumes Office, Pledges Commitment to Service

The newly inaugurated Sole Administrator of Gengle State Development Area, Hon. Musa Mohammed Gengle, has officially resumed office following his inauguration, pledging to serve the people with dedication, commitment, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Speaking shortly after assuming office on Wednesday, Hon. Gengle expressed profound gratitude to the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for the confidence reposed in him. He also appreciated the member representing Mayo-Belwa Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Musa Mahmud Kallamu, as well as the people of Gengle and Yoffo Ward for their support and trust.

APC Adamawa Stands by Candidate Eli Musa Filibus, Dismisses Calls for Disqualification.

The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed calls for the disqualification of its Nasarawo Binyeri constituency candidate, Eli Musa Filibus, over allegations that he is not from the constituency.

Speaking with journalists in Yola, the party's Publicity Secretary, Victor Dogo, said the APC remains confident in the validity of Filibus' candidacy and will not be swayed by unsubstantiated allegations.

Dogo's remarks come in response to protests by some aggrieved youths from the constituency following the party's primary election, in which Filibus emerged as the APC candidate.

The protesters had questioned his eligibility, claiming he is not an indigene of Nasarawo Binyeri constituency.

The APC spokesman, however, maintained that the party followed due process in the conduct of its primary election and urged members to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections. He stressed that any concerns regarding the nomination process should be addressed through appropriate party channels rather than public protests.
