MUSIC ROYALTIES

U can generated revenue from music through royalties, which is when a company or individual pays you to use your copyrighted works (your music). In other words, whenever someone plays your music, you get a cut.
the are four type of music royalties which are.

✝️. Performance Royalties To start earning performance royalties, you’ll need to register your song with a Performance Rights Organization. Replaying your copyrighted songs aren’t considered reproductions; they’re performances. This is typically when your songs are played in public places, such as , On the radio, In a club or restaurant, Radio service like Spotify or Pandora.

✝️. Synch Royalties. are typically one-time fees. If a company wants to use your song in a commercial, they’ll pay the royalties once for the life of the commercial. Music always makes videos, movies, and games better. But like any other reproduction of copyrighted work, it’s costs money! When someone “synchs” your music to a visual media like a movie, TV show, YouTube video, video game, commercial, etc., you’ll get paid synch royalties.

✝️. Print Music Royalties. They’re royalties that come from the sale of sheet music. These royalties are typically split between the songwriters and the publishers. Whenever you wander through a music store, you’ll likely see entire walls of print music and tabs to teach musicians how to play popular songs. Since they aren’t reproductions or productions of the song, they need a special type of royalty.

✝️. Mechanical Royalties. Mechanical royalties are paid out whenever a copy of a song is made. Modern mechanical royalties come from streaming services like Spotify, Pandora, and Apple Music, but only when a listener plays your song on-demand or downloads it. When your song plays over a streaming radio service, it’s a different type of royalty

There are some truths that need to be said when it comes to the music industry.

+ Rejection is norm in the music industry.
alot of people will think rejection is normal but no rejection is the norm. People will reject ur craft in different ways for example taking your song to the radio station but the will not play your songs, sending your music link to alot of people but still you have small stream on all streaming platform, meeting random fans on the street and ask them have you heard my song "NO". People will decide not to listen to your song for some crazy reason (eg your voice is too loud, I don't like the way u title it, u cloud have feature this instead of that so I will not listen to your music )the will find the smallest thing to use and reject you. think about it music industry is kind of center on rejection.
NB. accept that rejection and let it not make you a different person keep pushing and gratitude to people who appreciate your craft

+. Building a music career will cost you money
a music career will cost you a lot of money, you need money to achieve your budget. spend your money in the right way for example pay for social media ads, promotion, tours, distribution of music etc. I will not advice you to pay so that you can perform in an event.
build your brand on a trustworthy team. Because the industry is full of pretender who will just want to be part on your success but will not a play a scientificant roll in your journey of success. it is always advisable to build up a team of trustworthy people because most people in the music industry do not get payed the only earns commission on what the artiste get so basically their income is base on the success of the artiste.
